John Cleese accuses London of not being 'an English city any more'

John Cleese has criticised Londoners for voting to remain in the European Union.

The 79-year-old Fawlty Towers star - who revealed last year he was moving to the Caribbean because he is “disappointed’ with Britain - accused the capital city of not being English.

Cleese tweeted: “Some years ago I opined that London was not really an English city any more. Since then, virtually all my friends from abroad have confirmed my observation So there must be some truth in it...

“I don’t think the British as a whole are racist at all.

“... I’m ashamed of the racial attacks and people being shouted out in the street or told to go home, ‘Now it’s our country.’”

Gee, Mr Palin, as a whole, that sounds racist to me. And for a people who’ve inhabited the isles for a thousand years, why would they say, “NOW, it’s our country.” At long last?

“Brigitte Bardot essentially said the same thing about Paris years ago and was bashed by lefties.”

I think she was actually prosecuted criminally.

I thought the Twitter thread was better then the article:

Cleese said, "I note also that London was the UK city that voted most strongly to remain in the EU"

London mayor Sadiq Khan said,
"Londoners know that our diversity is our greatest strength. We are proudly the English capital, a European city and a global hub"

The inverse of diversity means unity
I've never seen anyone else point this out.

Cleese made a very good career of lampooning traditional England. That’s OK, I suppose. Every entity and person should be able to be laughed at.

But he was indeed a leftist who took the fashionable and modern path of socialist-progressive politics. He could also insulate himself from the problems because of his money. So that also makes him a hypocrite.

Well, the Animals had a lot more hits in England, but even over here they didn’t do too bad with at least 4 or 5 charting singles I think.

Burdon owns the “Animals” trademark too, I believe, so he was able to reform the band after they broke up with his own musicians and kept all the money from those incarnations. Then he also surely made some dough from “Spill The Wine” and the first couple WAR albums. Probably was just smart and invested instead of spending it all on drugs and women.

And more than just that. Bardot has been convicted of “hate crimes” numerous times. I guess only her fame has kept her out of jail. Here’s an article about that from 2013.

By the way, that’s absolutely where the U.S. is headed. Free speech goes out the window when “hate crimes” are involved.

My wife and I just spent a week in London at the tail-end of a month vacation in Europe.

And Cleese is right.

From our car service from the train station to the personnel at our very nice Kensington hotel, it was two days before we met anyone with a ‘British’ accent.

But they weren’t muslim. For the most part they were from Eastern Europe, i.e., Russia, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Hungary, etc.

The only muslims we actually ran into were our Uber drivers, though we saw a lot of muslim women on the streets, and a lot of muslim shops, i.e. ‘halal’.

This is her most recent of five trials ...

The trial concluded on 3 June 2008, with a conviction and fine of €15,000, the largest of her fines to date. The prosecutor stated she was tired of charging Bardot with offences related to racial hatred.

They never see the light that the condition they are leaving is what their ideology caused. Kind of like a Californian

I thought he'd been living in L.A. for at least twenty years.

Just like when Rosie O’Dumbass first appeared on the Skew, she bought the old Helen Hayes estate in Nyack, NY. A year later she moved to S. Nyack near where Bill Murray was living at the time because she and her “significant other” felt “uncomfortable” living so close to the village’s Section 8 housing. Another one, Whoopi Golberg, her primary residence is a mansion in Tuxedo Pk, NY, a gated “old money” subdivision once home to some of the Vanderbilts, Morgans, duPonts and other rich and famous from long ago. According to the latest census out of a population of approx 1200 there are, including Whoopi, 2 count ‘em TWO Black people living there and even fewer Latinos, Asians or Natives. Hey, being a phony liberal is one thing but when push comes to shove, gotta look out for #1.

John, it is people like you, and you yourself, that heralded the invasion of Moslems that is changing the demographic of London.

Congratulations, you got what you wanted.

Yep. I understand the anger people in red states feel when blue state denizens migrate to their state and immediately begin to support implementation of policies they were fleeing.

It is Leftism in a microcosm.

It is why socialism always finds fertile grounds to plant its flag-they “didn’t do it right there, but we’ll do it right here” mindset.

They are like viruses or locusts.

Cleese is getting the Brigit Bardot treatment as seen in France 20 years ago. Mild disdain now, turning into vicious legal attacks later. John is smart to simply move some where else to live out his remaining years.

Odd thing is when I have been in London the past few times, I have seen a ton of non-Muslims, such as Poles and Brazilians, who the local Brits don’t seem to care for. The “Muslim problem” is a much bigger problem in the north of England.
