John Cleese has criticised Londoners for voting to remain in the European Union.
The 79-year-old Fawlty Towers star - who revealed last year he was moving to the Caribbean because he is disappointed with Britain - accused the capital city of not being English.
Cleese tweeted: Some years ago I opined that London was not really an English city any more. Since then, virtually all my friends from abroad have confirmed my observation So there must be some truth in it...

Anyway, Cleese's remarks have upset London mayor Sadiq "terror attacks are part and parcel of living in a big city" Khan. So at least I'll give Cleese credit for that.
London replies, “John Who?”
Cleese is simply being an elistist liberal.
Taking his “gated community” to the British Virgin Islands, is he? There’s got to be a Monty Python skit in there somewhere!
[[[Cleese is simply being an elistist liberal.]]]
Exactly. His ideology is in his own backyard now and he doesn’t like it.
Isn’t this hate speech?
Yep. Instead of trying to fix the problem by limiting immigration and deporting those who do not assimilate, he moves away to spread his idiocy elsewhere.
He’s right.
Londonistan is no longer British.
It is occupied territory.
Heh, heh. Not being English. Come on, old chap, spell it out for us. Unless you want to be decapitated or butchered like a chicken by some lone wolf disgruntled by his ability to find his place in a culturally different environment. Did I leave any qualifiers out?
Maybe he is bragging.
I will always believe that the hordes of immigrants that the EU decreed Britain must accept, was the reason Brexit passed.
He’s never happy wherever he is. He hated California, he hated Monaco (he found out that supremely rich Europeans don’t gather in pubs) and will soon be hating the Caribbean as well as London.
Has anybody here ever seen Eric Burden’s place in the Caribbean??? I saw it on Facebook and it is a paradise. To paraphrase Louise Brooks: where did he get all that dough?
Brigitte Bardot essentially said the same thing about Paris years ago and was bashed by lefties.
I have felt much the same way about him, but...I am always welcoming to people who see the light.
Perhaps in this aspect of things he has.
Londoners elected a muzz as mayor. That’s all you need to know.
> Isnt this hate speech? <
Cleese cleverly side-stepped that. He talks about how the UK’s failure to exit the EU has ruined London. That, of course, is nonsense. A city’s character does not depend on whether or not it’s in some kind of trade union.
But a city’s character does depend on it’s inhabitants. And if many of those inhabitants are violent immigrants who refuse to assimilate...
Saying that would have gotten Cleese charged. So he avoided it.
Yes, exactly!
I doubt that Cleese was thinking of the numerous American-style fastfood restaurants there when he said that.
What I'd really like to know, though, is whether he thinks that it's a shame that it's no longer English.
Regards,
I thought liberals love diversity?
Run away!
Yes, he’s so mixed up.
He’s über liberal but doesn’t understand the consequences.
