Im done with you people, I really am. This is pathetic, Jamie Simpson of Fox 45 in Dayton says
A meteorologist for Fox 45 in Dayton, Ohio snapped at viewers who complained on social media about a tornado warning that interrupted Monday nights broadcast of The Bachelorette, saying that the cutaway was due to a dangerous situation.
I was just checking social media, we have viewers complaining already. Just go back to the show. No, were not going back to the show, folks. This is a dangerous situation, okay, Jamie Simpson said during the live broadcast.
Simpson scolded viewers who cared more about who Hannah Brown would give the next rose to than to a dangerous weather situation, which has caused massive damage to the region.
Think about if this was your neighborhood. Im sick and tired of people complaining about this, Simpson said. Our job here is to keep people safe, and that is what were going to do. Some of you complained that this is all about my ego. Stop. Its not. Im done with you people, I really am, this is pathetic.
Fox 45 did not immediately respond for a request for comment. However, Simpson did apologize later in the broadcast.
Alright, Im sorry I did that, it just really bothers me that we have people that dont care about other peoples safety around here, Simpson said.
Fox 45, or WRGT-TV, is a dual Fox and MyNetworkTV affiliate owned by Sinclair, which also owns ABC 22 in Dayton, which airs The Bachelorette.
Watch the video of the situation above.
I did not see it, but it may be that a simple “tornado warning” became a “weather channel” type of time consuming nonsense. A tornado warning should take about 60 seconds.
somebody is a bit thin skinned.
if it was my call, hed be gone.
The total amount of land area in which people were directly affected by the Ohio tornado swarm was on the order of one percent.
One person died as a result of the tornado event.
It would seem like weatherperson Jamie Simpson was upset that people were hearing her and seeing her, but not sharing her emotions and thought processes. Rather than just going with this, she chose to vent her frustration.
I wonder which political party better expresses her views?
I would rather watch a Lions/Jets game, than the Bachelorette................
Just tell them to get streaming video over the internet. They can watch the show until the house lifts off Wizard of Oz style.
Man that's a tough call (and I'm a Lions fan)
And it may just be that the people complaining were simply a subset of the type of people that would watch such a show. Personally, I never heard of it.
However, If I had been watching a show and there was a tornado warning, I’d consider it based on where I live. If they felt the need to spend more than a minute or so talking about it, I’d change the channel, assuming I was not already on my way to my storm shelter.
When the cyclonic winds knocked out electric power what did those poor people do? How did they survive without The Bachelorette?
Tornadoes were on the ground in a major US city but The Weather Channel didn’t interrupt its regular programming. Which was probably about global warming nonsense.
Absolutely
LOL
I think it is not great to lose your cool in a well paying service sector job :)
Yep, the Weather Channel's raison d'etre is to be a Propagandist for Climate Change.
Lol oh.
I thought Jets games were banned under the Geneva convention.
I hear you. I’ve never watched the Bachelorette, but I have seen a few of its commercials.
D dem left snowflake
She should have said: “If you missed any part of tonight’s ‘Bachelorette’ just watch the replay of the same episode number three seasons ago - the scripted dialogue will match, word-for-word, with whatever you missed on tonight’s show.” :)
Imagine the bitching and potential lawsuits if that weather report had NOT broken in to give the tornado update, and people were killed as a result.
Only since Namath retired.
