Pop megastar Taylor Swift revealed in a recent interview that she has no plans to give up her political activism mere months after her failed effort to help elect former Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen (D) to the U.S. Senate.
“I definitely think there are political undertones in the new music I made,” Taylor Swift told the German publication RTL. “I’m not planning to stop encouraging young people to vote and to try to get them to talk about what’s going on in our country. I think that’s one of the most important things I could do.”
In October 2018, Swift shocked the entertainment world by breaking her long-held silence on politics with an endorsement of Bredesen for U.S. Senate and Democrat Jim Cooper for U.S. House of Representatives, citing their record on LGBT issues.
“As much as I have in the past and would like to continue voting for women in office, I cannot support Marsha Blackburn,” Shake It Off singer wrote. “Her voting record in Congress appalls and terrifies me. She voted against equal pay for women. She voted against the Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, which attempts to protect women from domestic violence, stalking, and date rape. She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples. She also believes they should not have the right to marry. These are not MY Tennessee values.”

There’s definitely pressure on her, there are a bunch of leftists groups who have been lobbying her to be political for years, and they were threatening to brand her a “nazi sympathizer” until she came out in support of some Tennessee democrat a while back. I’ve never liked her music, but I did previously respect her for how long she held out... of course, I lost it all when she caved.
She doesn’t sing country anymore, not even “country” in quotes. She’s been making full-on pop music for many years now.

That’s great, we need more conservative artists if we’re ever going to take back our culture. I hope she stays the course, it’s not easy to be a conservative artist in college these days.
Until I hear what she means by political, I will continue to love her stuff. I love her music and especially her song writing. She has always been more than generous and available to her fans and plays games with them all the time that are fun for her and the fans. There are a ton of celebrities but very few with the kind of fan engagement at that immense level of fame.
In the past, the only political hints in any of her songs have been about people being allowed to love whom they love, meaning gay acceptance. She has a lot of gay friends, so that makes perfect sense.
Who the hell is Taylor Swift in the grand scheme of things, and why the hell should I give a rip about what she says?
Taylor Swift isn’t exactly Floor Jansen. Actually, she’s not in the same universe.
BTW, Floor Jansen is a Dutch singer for the Finnish Symphonic Metal Band, “Nightwish”.
Swift singing for a metal band would be torture.

I suppose the people surrounding them are all liberals and as such they want to feel connected.
So they adopt the political views of their friends and peers.
They think they are cool and believe that people will really listen to what they have to say.
Until realty smacks them upside their empty heads.................
