I see a screenshot. That is enough.
Not really.
Haven’t used G in years.
It’s Startpage.com for me.
My resolution is 1920 X 1080.
This is a real mystery.
I have no idea why I am not seeing the flag.
Maybe it only renders for Chrome?
I use Microsoft Edge.
If you really believe that you don’t understand Google.

Amazon makes Google look like amateurs.
I think the grey is intended to be symbolic: it says ‘honoring the fallen,’ underneath.
Of course, then it points out the Yankees list to the Royals, which is either a baseball game or an alt history of the revolutionary war
do you honestly believe this article is true?
I don’t see the tri-fold flag on my funky cellphone browser, but I see the clickable link...”Honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice”. Maybe your browser isn’t allowing you to see everything on the page.
I’m OK with the Google page, especially with the flag. It’s a simple page...and doesn’t have to be splashy for Memorial Day.
For me, this does not show up on Chrome. It does show on Edge. I don't have Firefox. So browser related ????
I did some reading at Google and a guy who works there, who served as a marine, said it is part of the Memorial Day of Remembrance Event at 3 PM today.
And posts like this make FR look embarrassing.
I agree! I use bing almost all the time. I do admit, there are a few searches google might do better if one is really delving deeply into something... but it’s only in a blue moon that I ever use them.
I don’t like it even when people say “google is your friend”, no... I will use bing or other.. and I’m sure, even bing has some political correctness in it but I don’t expect the world to be better.
I went to Google with three different browsers. They all deliver different screens. So the OP is suffering from browser differences. As far as the part about 3pm that is the traditional time to celebrate. My comment about Google taking names was tongue in cheek. The part about Google knowing all it does about you is dead serious.
Nice. Doesn’t mean they turned off tracking.
My husband uses DuckDuckGo, too. I heard that it uses Google as their engine, but does something to make it more private. So, you’re getting privacy, but the results returned are in the same order as what you’d get with Google, i.e., putting conservative stuff after everything else. IDK if it’s true.
scum
Um... OK, they are recognizing memorial day... Are you looking for insults where there is none?
Liberals do that.
Google does enough to deserve criticism without looking for it. (like when they celebrated Cezar Chavez’s birthday on Easter Sunday.)
I find the gray letters HIGHLY EFFECTIVE and thought provoking. The folded flag reinforces the message even more so. With iPhone Safari I only got the gray letters. When I turned off 2 content blockers a link appeared Honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Theres much disgraceful about Google, but this one time they did well.
