The Mad Men ending was perfect. Don Draper was on top again and ready to go through the same descent again in the 70s.
Note it mirrored the intro, It shows Draper falling all the away, only to show him right back in his chair in command at the end.

I find the last episode of quantum leap the most memorable of the entire series. I remember at the time what a furor it caused.

This is a list of the worsts. The Sopranos was one of the best.
Remember that old 80s show ALF about a wisecracking puppet alien? One of his biggest fears and why he had to be kept secret was that if they government found out about him they'd come for him to dissect him in some lab. In this sitcom series finale, the government caught ALF and took him away to be dissected. The end.
It was supposed to be a cliffhanger resolved in the first episode of the next season but that got cancelled so basically ALF being murdered by the government is how the show ended. Bummer!

ST:D season 2 finale features one of the best space battles ever put to film.
Most of the show is non-stop fighting. It’s incredible they were able to craft the CGI required on a television budget.
In the old days a series was simply cancelled without any prepared ‘final’ episode.
Often now they announce ‘Last Season’, so have a chance to shape a lead-up to a proper ending.
Less excuse thus for crappy endings
The problem with “The Prisoner” was most of the series content was Allegorical (as was the ending) , and american main stream viewers really didn’t ‘do’ allegorical.
Allegory - a representation of an abstract or spiritual meaning through concrete or material forms; figurative treatment of one subject under the guise of another.
The whole series dealt with society and government controlling people’s lives and the many ways it does.
Add a European bent ontop of that.

Speaking of “shows that tie to their older show,” the new Tim Allen comedy “Last Man Standing” did that in the first episode. It was absolutely hilarious how they tied LMS back to “Home Improvement.” I’ve rarely laughed so much at a TV comedy as I did that night.
Only one I ever watched was #3/Seinfeld. Others not even remotely interesting
But I loved that Lotus Super Seven, whatever it stood for.
Tim Allen is a comedy genius.
The Seinfeld finale was so bad, they canceled the show. That Kenny Bania show might take off, though. That’s going to be gold, Jerry, gold!
A series finale that was actually pretty good was King of Queens where Frank Costanza (aka Arthur Spooner) (warning: spoilers ahead) shows up at the Heffernan’s house with his suitcase and announces “It didn’t work out!”
I watched it last night.
That was pretty crazy stuff!
