Must have been going pretty fast too. One would think the shoulder harnesses would prevent heads hitting the windshield but not enough info on that in the article. Sad and unnecessary accident.
Initial report was the kid was traveling at a ‘high rate of speed’. Offset hit rather than direct would do it if speed was high enough.

A horribly sad ping to the Auburn family. I am in tears as I write.
I apologize for not posting earlier; we traveled to Greenville this morning and spoke at the First Presbyterian Church and got back a little while ago. I knew of this story earlier and I just didn’t have the heart to post a thread. This is the third major sadness for the Auburn family, the first two being the March tornados and the police officer being murdered. There is a lot of grief here.

Very sad. I started hearing the news last night and it was just speculated they were in the crash. Then heard she had passed. And then when I got home heard The Voice of Auburn Tigers had also succumbed to his injuries.
So said . . . just yesterday day was the funeral for the fallen police officer.

Our area has been hit hard these last few months, what with the F-5 tornado, Officer Buechner’s death, and the loss of Rod and Paula Bramblett.
First, Bart Starr and now this. Horrible.
It’s as if Rod just wanted to be with Paula and not in this life without her.
Indeed. High school sweethearts married for IDK how many years... I have encountered only a few committed couples such as this throughout my lifetime.
