All Americans should resent Trump’s excessive golf costs
Washington Examiner ^ | May 23, 2019 | Quin Hillyer

Posted on 05/24/2019 11:06:18 PM PDT by Oscar in Batangas

...As a conservative, I hope other conservatives join me in complaining about Trump’s golf costs.

And I make the same complaint as an avid golfer.

The problem isn’t that Trump likes golf, or that he finds at least some time to play it. Rogan is right that presidents need relief from the stresses of the job, and golf is a salutary diversion. And the problem isn’t that presidential golf costs more than golf by anybody else, because of course security and other considerations make it so by necessity.

snip

The president is not a potentate. The presidency does not carry with it the right to self-absorbed excess. If any other public official — the speaker of the House, for example, or the chief justice of the United States — were billing taxpayers to pay for him to fly across the country, frequently, on a whim, to play golf at some exotic locale, there would be official investigations into potentially criminal misuse of government funds.

Here’s the thing, Quinn. I’m a little jammed up this time of year. Would it be alright if I get weeweed up with you a little later? I’m thinking maybe mid to late September. How about I have my people call your people? We can do lunch and see where we stand.

Clinton was known to be an avid golfer and one of the most prolific golfing Presidents in history but Obama made him look like a casual golfer in comparison. Was Quinn writing when they were POTUS or is this something new he discovered just in time for Trump's Presidency? Also, just FYI here is a little bit of info on Presidents and golf.

As it turns out, Donald Trump has played more golf in his first 100 days in office than Barack Obama. However, Obama played an estimated 333 rounds of golf while President for eight years.

Obviously Trump hasn't been in office long enough to rack up a historically high number of rounds of golf as President, but where does Obama rank among his fellow U.S. Presidents in terms of which one has played the most golf?

The U.S. President who played the most golf is actually Woodrow Wilson, who played an estimated, 1,200 rounds of golf while in office from 1913-21. That beats second-place President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who had a tree named for him at Augusta National Golf Club where he was a member and went 29 times as Commander-in-Chief, who played more than 800 rounds of golf in office from 1953-61.

Obama comes in a healthy fourth place with his 333 rounds. Bill Clinton played an estimated 400 rounds of golf in the White House.

Who said that the taxpayer paid for Trump’s golf costs. Maybe he’s paying for the costs himself.

Quin Hillyer is a never Trumper.

Proof from July 5, 2016:

“No VP Pick Can Move Me from the #NeverTrump Camp”

https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/rick-santorum-donald-trump-vp/

He says:

“Trump is just that bad. There is no lipstick that can cover up his piggishness. He is a lifelong con man and vulgarian with a long record of trampling ordinary Americans, cheating the system, trafficking in bigotry, and advocating horrendously unethical public policy and advocating (and reportedly participating in) even worse private behavior. Trump is no more fit to be president of this great nation than his pal Vladimir Putin is. If Santorum or Pence, or anybody else decent, joins Trump’s presidential ticket, they do not elevate Trump; they lower themselves and show themselves somewhat less worthy of respect.”

Obama’s vacations were to the tune of about $6 million a pop, if I recall, weren’t they. When you added all the costs up. The President goes to his own house in Florida. AF 1 is in the air for about 2 hours. How long does it take to fly to Hawaii? How many junkets has the First Lady, with entourage, been on, for no reason whatsoever? How many positions did the First Lady eliminate compared to the thing that she replaced?

And, I’m not sure that it matters all that much in the grand scheme of things, but for the most part, when the President plays, most of the time he’s playing at one of his own courses. All they’re doing is setting up security. Cops closing down some streets. Secret Service doing the rest and they get paid anyway, whether they’re standing in a tree line or updating Facebook in an office waiting around.

Yeah, with the billions upon billions of taxpayer dollars the federal government squanders, I'll accept some relatively microscopic level of waste by the first president in decades who is acting on the issues I care about.

I wanted the magic negro to keep playing golf everyday. Or maybe basketball. Just stay out of Washington.

Great information on the numbers.

Any further detail on who they were golfing with? Its more than just a game and relaxation for most as it can be an opportunity to meet and get to know new people to start or improve relationships needed to get the job done. A former boss of mine helped set up a foursome that included the CEO of a major corporation with Clinton, the ultimate schmoozer. As I recall Obama golfed routinely with the same people. Rarely newcomers. He was absorbed in it as a game instead of an opportunity to use his relaxation time as an investment in relationships.

When you have to announce, at the beginning of an article, that you are a conservative, your not.

This guy hates golf, golfers and golf courses for what he thinks they represent. I know of a public golf course around here that could really use a man like him on their grounds crew.

One Day Away
by QUIN HILLYER
September 5, 2012, 12:00 AM

In about 36 hours, our arrogant, angry, welfare-reform-killing, food stamp golfer-in-chief from Chicago will tell the country why he thinks he deserves a second term even though he wasn’t experienced enough for a first term.

Mulligans for Obama
By QUIN HILLYER
September 8, 2014 8:00 AM

The United States must cope with many hazards.
While Barack Obama spends so much of his time on golf courses, some 14 million Americans are the ones who want to take a Mulligan.

Extrapolating from Obama’s record-low approval rating of 38 percent (via Gallup last week), compared with his 51 percent share of the vote in the 2012 election (he received nearly 66 million votes), that’s how many Americans actually pulled the lever for Obama but now think he’s doing a lousy job.

You can be a conservative anything. Even a conservative democrat, when compared to a car r left democrat. So the term conservative alone means nothing.

This Quinn guy is a smear artist.

A great book to help fight the smear industry is THE SMEAR by Sharyl Attkisson.
