Blacksnake KY, Sugar Run, KY, Flat Lick, KY, Mud Lick, KY, Noetown, KY.
My son still goes to the kolache festival in Caldwell every year. Lots of Czech and German influence in Texas.
There used to be a real estate sales office in Hell Michigan with a sign stating "BEST REAL ESTATE IN HELL BY A DAM SITE". I used to have a photo of it which I cannot locate now.
Oops, I stand corrected.
My mama, who actually breastfed me with her Grand Tetons, told me wrong.
Either of those could be a memorable honeymoon destination.

Kolache festival..that’s it, that’s what I was thinking of when I said Oktoberfest, didn’t remember the right name.
I went to the Kolache festival every year, lived there about 8 or 9 years. Great Kolaches and baklava...And since I had a relative who owned a local business, I always had a place to park...not that it was a huge problem, even if town square was out of the question it was 3 blocks to walk at worst, not a big deal...We knew some of the ladies who baked the goodies, terrific people.
I think that particular area is mostly Czech and Bohemian ancestry, at least that’s what a lot of the locals called them...good people anyway, I don’t care where they came from. Treated us newcomers well. Around San Marcos and New Braunfels is a lot of German ancestry too. I worked at a machine shop in San Marcos for a bit under 2 years, spent a lot of time in that area. New Braunfels is another cool place.
I took a picture one day across from Gruene Hall (pronounced “green”) of an old black car from the 40’s parked on the corner, completely restored, only car in sight. Converted it to black and white and it looked like it was taken 75 years ago...always wished I had been using black and white film that day...had to wait 15 years, scan it and run it through a photo editor...(digital didn’t exist yet, 20 years in the future) Gruene is just outside New Braunfels. Two more strange town names in Texas...
Oh by the way, I live not far from Zavalla...yet another strange name...Diboll not far away, and Nacogdoches, Etoile right down the road...lots of strange names if you look around a little...
North, South Carolina
Climax, Michigan.
Every couple who has ever driven there:
“Look honey, we’re going to get there at the same time today.”
Ever been to Booger Hollow in Arkansas?
I have.

I think booger, back in the olden days, referred to a boogyman type monster. The Woodbooger.
Don’t leave out Earth.
There’s an Earth, Texas too!
