A 1-year-old girl is recovering after she was run over by a Boston police cruiser in the city's Roxbury neighborhood on Monday.
The incident happened around 7 p.m. in the area of 618 Shawmut Ave. Surveillance footage showed the cruiser pulling out from a curb and knocking the child to the ground.
A man wearing a yellow T-shirt rushed to the child to help her while the girl's mother, who was standing nearby, appeared frantic and dropped what she was holding.

What kind of statement is that?
After watching the video I don’t think the driver of the vehicle could have seen the child.
What was a 1 year old child doing in the street effectively unaccompanied (mom nearby, but not near enough)?
If you watch the video, you can see that the child was out in the street alone while mom was preoccupied on the sidewalk.
Why is this a story? Let me guess? The attack on our police continues.
At least from the point of view of the video, there is no way the driver could have seen the infant toddle in front of the vehicle. Life is cheap in the ghetto. If the baby-mamma loses one, she’ll just make another. Oh and there’ll be lots of tears, whining and gnashing of teeth on Channel Whatever Live at Six and the pay day from the teat of the Municipal Sow will be Justice In Six or Seven Figures. And life will go on.
So you are accusing this police officer of specifically shooting her on purpose.......?
Bad things happen. Anyone who’s been a kid or have kids know they wander...
And it only takes a few seconds for bad trouble to happen.
No blame to anyone....
A lot of people (Liberal and Conservative) seem to want a totally safe society where no bad thing ever happens to anyone. The truth is, as you say, Bad things happen.
Sometimes it makes sense to hold someone accountable because they were irresponsible. But sometimes you just have to shrug and say, “That’s a shame”. I don’t think it’s good to have a society where the first reaction to bad events is: “Somebody has to pay for this!” That just not always appropriate.
Nope - Though I recognize your style of “argument” - make a patently false misstatement of what I said and then argue against your misstatement - Obviously you have no interest in rational discussion. Do I detect the scent of boot polish on your breath?
Probably not his fault, but I wonder if charges would be brought if an ordinary citizen hit the child. The Boston police have a history of protecting their own even when they are responsible (google Victoria Snellgrove)
I bet that applies to most big city police departments. Of course some cities like Baltimore have thrown their cops under the bus and the safety of the general public has suffered greatly.
I dont have a style of argument......
.....I cherish rational discussion......
...I dont know what the boot polish choice of words means.....
Have a nice day
The accident probably was not preventable if the child was not tall enough to be seen before the car pulled out. And, because of her height, if she was very near the front of the police car when it pulled out, still would not be seen when it pulled out. I knocked down a small child who stepped out between parked cars as I drove slowly down a residential street. I did not see him at all and only was aware that he had been there when I glanced in my rearview mirror and saw him lying in the street. I immediately called 911. I had not run over him because he fell right in front of my car which passed over him without the tires touching him. I later learned that he made a full recovery, for which I was greatly relieved.
I would certainly hope that Officer Millen shot Snellgrove on purpose as the alternative is that he shot her at random or that he shot her out of sheer incompetence.
