And as Democrats in congress continue their siege of the Trump administration, early this afternoon New York state lawmakers gave final passage to legislation that would allow Donald Trump’s state tax returns to be released to congressional committees, the Associated Press writes. Such committees, as we know only too well, have so far been barred from obtaining the president’s federal tax filings. The Democrat-led New York senate and assembly, which make up both houses of the state legislature in the capital, Albany, a couple of hours up the Hudson River from New York City, both approved the measures on Wednesday. Governor Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat whom many had been expecting to run for president but so far has been upstaged in this endeavor by his city frenemy, New York mayor Bill De Blasio, will now need to sign the legislation to make it law.
