WASHINGTON The impeachment chorus in the House is growing larger and louder and it's no longer just the safe-district partisan liberals who think it's time for the Judiciary Committee to open a formal inquiry into President Donald Trump's possible obstruction of justice. The usual suspects from the progressive wing of the party have been more forceful behind closed doors and in front of TV cameras in recent days, and they've been bolstered by a discernible shift among less-prominent members of the rank and file. McConnell could do everyone a favor and announce that any impeachment by the House that does not have a real, serious, documented crime to justify their actions, will not be taken up by the Senate. That the Senate will not participate in their political hatefest.
Any smart democrat (I know, it sounds like an oxymoron)knows that impeachment is Trumps dream. The senate would acquit and Trump rides the vindication to victory in 2020.
I don’t think what the Senate might do matters. House Impeachment provides a distraction and possible insurance against Barr’s upcoming reveal of the real crimes. It also limits PDJTs ability to govern. Finally, it may shut off the power of the Pardon, depending upon the interpretation of the “except in matters of Impeachment.” The only thing holding back the Rats are the polls. If Barr cuts deep, survival trumps (pi) the polls.
