Don’t like them? Are they damaging your property?

We hear owls here. That’s cool every time. Have not seen them yet.

We have great horned owls here. We hear them in the evening. Only seen one once, a ways off, in five years. They own the night.

We have 8 or 10 Red Crossbills and many Chestnut Backed Chickadees plus various Sparrows and Finches feeding in our garden. I had a fence company build a feeding sanctuary out of chainlink material to thwart the bears in this area ofHumboldt Bay…

They beat the crap out of my stove pipe. They have an obnoxious call. They have no redeeming qualities.

There was one on the hill years ago that beat on a microwave dish on a radio tower. The parabolic dish focused the noise, and it was incredibly loud in the direction the dish pointed.

Thank you all FRiends for the reminder. Swampsniper was special. I’ve been remiss in my attention to my little feathered friends. They have always been a joy. Pee dee dee dee.

On the upside, hawks cruise around here all the time, they help with the gophers. I do my part with a 10-22. And we see bald eagles in the spring.

Badgers dig those gophers out too, but I’m worried about them tangling ass with my dog.

HA! My wife found one stuck in the snow, kept it in here over night. Seemed to be in better shape in the morning (liked a dab of honey) and the weather was better so she let it go. I suppose a bird got it, but she was happy.

Here is a male House Finch I photographed at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge with my new digital SLR. Still have a ways to go to really get good with this camera.

And here is a Polyphemus moth from there:

You tube: repair a washing machine, enjoy a garden walk, sing along w/a favorite performer. The channel has it all.
Enjoy the link. :-)

I love YouTube!

I have probably saved thousands of dollars watching repair tutorials.

I like watching YouTube way better than I ever liked tv or movies.

LOL, right you are. We had a Woodchuck infestation, they were destroying our yard, and I don’t live in an area where I could dispose of them with a .22 without having the policed called down on me, so I had to trap them, which is always fun...:)

Not bad...I can see you have the electronic zoom turned up pretty high for that House Finch, but...how else you going to get a close up like that without the expensive lens????

Butterflies, are cool, though...they let you walk right up...:)
