Googles move to stop licensing its Android mobile operating system to Huawei could deal a huge blow to the Chinese tech giants ambitions to become the top player in smartphones globally. The U.S. tech conglomerate has suspended business activity with Huawei that involves the transfer of hardware, software and key technical services. Google made the move in order to comply with Washingtons decision to put Huawei on the so-called Entity List, meaning American firms need to get a license to sell products to the Chinese firm.

Smart move by both our government and Google.
TRUMP got google to do something positive and pro-American. Amazing!
Are you for or against cracking down on Huawei? Here is the choice:
1. Allow an arm of the Chinese communist government spy network to expand its reach and profit from western technology and markets.
OR
2. Destroy this arm of the Chinese spy network while simultaneously opening markets for western companies, even if it means using technology that might not be cutting edge.
I know what my choice is.
Mandatory spyware is not a customer preference.
Who would have thunk it?
These billion dollar companies are run by stupid fools.
Peter Lynch [Former hear of Fidelity Magellan], Beating the Street, always invest in companies that could be run by any fool because sooner or later one will be running it.
It's funny, from dog clubs to HOAs to the US Congress to major corporations, events collude that cause humans to put idiots in charge of their affairs. It only isn't the rule in small firms and start-ups. Not that it doesn't happen there, but they fail so quickly that the public doesn't become aware.

Thirty-five years of experience taught me that usually the one with the least amount of knowledge and experience wants to be in charge the meeting, the organization or the entire show.
Crippling to Huawei, but also a big financial hit to Google. Huawei is #2 in handsets. that’s a lot of revenue to walk away from
I would not be surprised that Google also does this with ZTE and possibly Xiaomi, too. No access to the Google Play Store and high-level upgrades to Android is really bad news for several Chinese handset makers.
Not really. Other companies will fill the void. It’s not like consumers have a real choice with smartphone. Ios or Android.
Google has a history with China. This probably feels good to them at some level. A big up-yours.
Those who want to be in charge the most are generally the least qualified to do so.
Isn’t that the Peter Principle?

Personally I believe these kind of decisions are based on only one aspect of business.. greed. That is make the most profit possible without considering what that is going to cost you later.
I know the purpose of a business is to make money. But sometimes getting the highest return on your investment is not always the wise business decision when something goes wrong. What did it cost BP to clean up their oil spill and to cap the wells? They made a decision to cut corners and it bit them in the butt.
Read the article. Huawei will use the open source version of Android. Without the Google bloat initially installed.
No Android for China.
Unless of course they use pirated copies...but that would never happen.
Yep, MIT disassociated too...
Huawei will turn on all the spyware ,LOL
Sounds like more winning for the best President ever...
Of course.
Anyone who ever worked for a general officer or worked in the policr, command and control of any US Agency probably the military, economic, intelligence and the Presidential political structure incorporates all.
Google, Microsoft, and especially Facebook are incorporated into both the Intelligence and military to protect.
At what point this became a “KGB” wet dream is a blurred mirage of the free market.
