At 40 Mrs. Slim won the Mount Taylor Quadrathalon. 43 total miles. Bike first, then run, then cross country ski, then snowshoe, and back down in reverse order. A 5000 foot elevation gain to 11,300 feet.

She also ran many marathons.

This was before we married, and she discovered the joys of sloth, wine and bbq.

I have a colleague who ran his first marathon at age 50.
Astoundingly he completed two of them.

Afterwards it was weeks before he could walk normally again.
His wife has since banned him from running any more of them.
