The polls were unanimous that the leftist Labor Party was going to defeat the conservatives (confusingly called “The Liberal Party”) in yesterday’s election and take over the government of Australia. As with the inevitable Hillary Clinton presidency, the polls were wrong.
While any election is decided on multiple issues, especially in a continent-sized nation like Australia, most close observers believe that global warming policies, especially the move to close the massive Adani Coal Mine project in Queensland – the subject of enormous demonstrations – and skyrocketing prices for electricity made the difference.

These days conservatives are the liberals.

Spot on. And to that point, I find myself more often than not calling myself and FR brethren "Deplorables." That term, as Gordon Gekko would say, cuts through, clarifies, and captures the essence of liberty-loving folk nowadays.

When I see the election night crying over Hillary, I can’t wait to see when Mayor Pete loses.
We live in interesting times. The left is feeling very emboldened these days and no longer feels the need to hide their agenda. In the old days they would have softened any policy designed to grab money and power during a campaign and only after winning power ram through draconian laws. I think part of it is how overwhelmingly left the media academia and popular culture has become they no longer feel there is any opposition left and are shocked when a Trump shows up and wins. Any opposition is viewed by them as insignificant and illegitimate.
I do hope that some of that makes it to YooToob. I'll make an evening of schadenfreude.
Just another example of how rigged and corrupt the Polls are.
Climate change has become such an obvious political loser you’d think Democrats would never mention the topic again.
But if not climate change, what else can the Democrats talk about? The economy? The current U.S. economy is a shining star in the firmament of American economic history, with the word “TRUMP” plastered all over it. The Mueller Report? The Mueller Report has become so boring its mere mention by CNN night after night has caused the network to plummet into an epic ratings abyss.
So what issue can Democrats mention? Joe Biden spent his big sparsely attended speech yesterday repeating the word “unity.” Unlike circus clowns, when political clowns emerge from their clown cars they must say something. If Joe Biden had done a single constructive thing in his entire career, he could have talked about it. But he hasn’t, so it will be unity, unity, unity, until Joe’s handlers come up with another empty cliché.
