I was in the Bucky Dent Era, another great time to be a Yankees fan.
Alas, no more since their third POS strike, but I have some wonderful memories.
However, he was voted a Hall of Famer only because he played for the NY Yankees during their winning years. These are statistically the most similar players:
1.Elvis Andrus (927.5)
2.Art Fletcher (918.9)
3.Billy Rogell (915.8)
4.Billy Jurges (910.0)
5.Claude Ritchey (908.6)
6.Lonny Frey (906.7)
7.Marty Marion (905.9)
8.Doggie Miller (905.6)
9.Lyn Lary (904.6)
10.Jose Offerman (904.4)
NONE of them are in the Hall of Fame. I've heard of only four of the ten on that list for the same reason that I've heard of Phil Rizzuto-- they all played in at least one World Series.
