If nothing else, the public can ask for de-classification after 25 or 50 years, depending.
With the aircraft around 15-16,000 feet ASL, that's outside the slant and ceiling ranges for MANPADS. Seems to me like a bigger missile (ship mounted?) would have been what was used.

Odd situation for me. What I know absolutely convinces me this was a shoot down, but I cannot say what it is because people would immediately realize how I got the information, and there would very likely be serious problems for my source. I've promised not to tell, and it drives me nuts, because I think the public should know about this.

I watched the video of the missel rising shortly after the event. That was definitely no Manpad or Stinger. It was the type of large land to air AA like they shot at my aircraft over ‘Nam.
