Microsoft has launched new software to suggest edits to writing that are politically correct. The US technology giant has included the new feature in its latest version of Word, the popular word processing software.
It will apply artificial intelligence to recommend users to write in a way that does not discriminate against a particular gender.

This is awfully nice of Bill Gates and Microsoft. Because some of us are too stupid to know what is acceptable these days.
I wonder what will be in the next version. Maybe Word will change "illegal alien" to "undocumented immigrant".
And "Islamic terrorist" will become "lone wolf who in no way represents peaceful Islam".

Then no way I’m using Microsoft Word.

Libre Office performs as needed.

I’ll pass. If it can’t be disabled by option, there are plenty of freeware alternatives.
My daughter is big on Google Docs. I wonder if that fusses with your freedom to express yourself.

Back in my college days (mid 80s), a graduate level roommate had a DOS citation style checker that was already doing that. However, it was based on a simple text-based word list. So he simply reversed it.
If you typed "flight attendant" it would restore the word "Stewardess", etc. He turned out to be a wackadoo Wiccan (and I high ranking one, I believe), so I dropped contact shortly after I attended his wedding (failed marriage) at the Unitarians. Still, in those days he had his moments.

Shite canned Microsoft years ago.
Agree with the poster above: Libre Office will do the job and the price is much less.

So it’s going to start substituting the incorrect “their” for “his” and “her”?
How about “Busted down the door” like my local Yellow Journal likes to report police incursions.

Will they correct for all 37 (or so) pronouns--you know, "ze," "zhe," "zoo"--that sort of thing?
They'd better get it right because in some places you can do jail time for getting it wrong.
