Seeing the news of this terrible incident practically took my breath away. Safety first, people!! Javelins should not be stuck standing up in the ground like that.
The UGA Men’s outdoor track and field team were the NCAA Champions last spring.
Elija Godwin was named the Southeastern Conference Men’s Freshman of the Week March 21 this year.
I thank the Lord he was not hurt any worse. He is out of surgery and a full recovery is expected.

You can still buy Jarts.
The things they call Jarts bear no resemplance to the real thing. They are have BEAN BAGS, not points, on them.
If you have an antique set the plastic wings are likely to fall apart after one game.

This happened to a Naval Academy Midshipman in 1947 if my memory is working OK.

Looks like you could take the wings of the new ones and slide them on the rod of the old jarts.

Georgia would never have let this happen to a white athlete. Get woke.

I did too, sticking javelins in the turf at an angle is not a good idea, but when we practiced, we would do this and run to retrieve then javelin which was often stuck at an angle. If some people were also running backward on the same field it could be a problem.
