If you wondered what is it inside of Russian nuclear shelter then here is a gallery for you. A Russian blogger Yaroslav went inside one of those and here is his report.
He says that this shelter is much older than he is. It was built back in USSR times.
Inside they have a model of a nuclear blast for some reason.
A class inside of the shelter teaching people on the war rules and signs.
A call center.
Not much to do inside probably a best thing is to play some chess.
Or read some Soviet magazines. No internet here.
Warehouses with different goods.
A stock of Danger: Pollution signs.
Not much space for each person.
Sitting like this, closer than in airplane.
Electric generators.
Special thick hermetic doors.
A chief of the shelter has a separate office.
Direct line to the police.
Thanks to Yaroslav for his photos.
You might enjoy this time capsule.
I do enjoy this story- time capsules like this are fun to see.
The reason is that the entire shelter appears to have been turned into a tourist attraction.
I think that the Soviets and today Russians still have these, and they are much more modern I am sure. Russia has the most extensive civil defense system in the world geared for nuclear combat.
Perhaps there would be more Russians alive after a nuclear war than Americans. They certainly have experienced the effects of war on their civilians first hand, where the US hasn’t had such experience since the civil war.
No bathrooms?
They have just been blocked off and forgotten.
Many are under schools built in the late 50's & early 60's
Who needs bathrooms? But where the hell is the vodka?
For 2 years I worked in a bomb shelter that was built in 1958. It had been repurposed to a a County EOC. It was located on the grounds of the DuPage County complex in Wheaton IL.
The internal electronic gear, radios, etc, had been upgraded of course, but the bones of the place were the flower of 1958 technology. 3 foot thick steel reinforced concrete walls, 25 feet underground, and concealed underneath the States Attorneys Office. Most of them didnt even know we were working directly underneath them.
The cots looked just about the same as these do. Im pretty sure the mattresses were original as there were a couple occasions I slept down there.
There was even a hot phone that supposedly was hooked directly to DC. We were told that if that one were ever to ring sh** was going to get real.
They demolished it a couple years ago. It was an interesting place to work.

I rode out a tornado in an auditorium in tx that is a bomb shelter with stevie ray vaughns drummer and long tall Marcia ball.
Very memorable. :)
This looks like something out of the book Level 7.
It happened! I have witnesses!
Needs the special ringtone:
Actually it was white and had only 2 buttons. There was no glass cover for it. But I badly wanted to put one over it.

Call Center? Is that Peggy?
Needed more captions on some of them.
What’s the Rent?
