I fell in love with Elton John about that time, because of his music. Oy.
I went to a concert of his c. 1990 with about 20 people.
I saw Elton in the late 1980s at the Auditorium Theater in Chicago. It was Elton, a grand piano, and one man playing percussion instruments. They played for over 3 hours with an intermission.
Its in my top 5 shows ever.

This movie addresses the “problematic” thing about the Freddie Mercury movie, namely that it wasn’t in-your-face gay enough. This one sets out to avoid that mistake.
Bohemian Rhapsody went so far as to portray the gay life as dark, seedy, promiscuous and destructive. It was the cause of the band splitting up and FM's career decline and even his death. It would have been difficult to portray the gay lifestyle in a less positive light.
For Elton, particularly for the last few decades, his gayness has played a much more prominent role in his public persona, and I'm sure it will be more in your face than BH. Hopefully Elton will consider his legacy, and not ruin a good story.
Oh, goody! Another movie about a degenerate fag musician! Just what the world needs.
Oh, the other Little Rocket Man.
I was a huge fan of EJ during his heyday in the 70s but only saw him on American television a few times where he most probably lip-synched. With YouTube, those of us who missed out are able to see him and his original band live from that era on English TV and in concert.
“Johnny Cash movie wasn’t too bad.”
Agreed. I liked the Ray Charles movie and the Bobby Darin movies, too.
Never saw the Bobby Darin movie.................

I really just don’t care. I liked his music when I was in High School but not interested anymore. So I am not going to watch this thing and I did not care for the Freddie Mercury bio either, never liked Queen. Give me Jazz and Blues.
Now if they ever do a film on Jon Mayall count me in.
Freddie was one of a kind.
After watching Bohemian Rhapsody, Ive been downloading many Queen songs. There are many gems that Ive never heard including The Prophets Song, Take My Breath Away and 39.
I agree with your previous post about Freddie and his self-destructive lifestyle. He loved Mary Austin until the day he died and she still loved him.
The fact that he left almost everything, including all future royalties to her, is proof of that. During interviews, he also described Mary as his common law wife.
Who knows what might have happened if Freddie hadnt met that so-called friend.
Now that guy was out there. I think more people know of him because of Rush Limbaugh.
Freddie was molested as a teenager IIRC.
I wasn’t aware of that. Thanks for the info.
It didn’t make sense to me that he loved Mary so much but had a dangerously promiscuous sex life. Also, in some ways, he seemed to be a “reluctant” bisexual man. I’ve wondered if he was a sex addict.
The molestation explains a lot.
I already know “The Show Must Go On”, “Love of My Life”, “Save Me” and “I want it All”. All are great songs.
I believe that I’ve heard “Is This the World We Created” during the Live Aid concert. I believe that it was their encore performed that night after their first performance but I could be wrong.
The music video for “Save Me” is just as beautiful and moving as the song. My older sister purchased “The Game” LP and I played it to death. “Save Me” was one of my favorites.
My sister’s friend had the “News of The World” LP but the Album cover and the insert scared me, lol. But, in my defense, I was around five or six when it was released.
“The Show Must Go On” is very sad, considering the song’s subject matter. “Mother Love” is absolutely devastating.
I will check out your other suggestions. Thanks!
