FULL TITLE: 'The best horse did NOT win!' Trump blasts controversial Kentucky Derby reversal as 'political correctness' after winning horse is disqualified for 'impeding' another's path
President Donald Trump added his outrage on sunday to the national dustup over Saturday's controversial Kentuky Derby finish, complaining that disqualifying the apparent winning horse for interfering with another is a sign of 'political correctness' run amok.
'The Kentuky [sic] Derby decision was not a good one. It was a rough and tumble race on a wet and sloppy track, actually, a beautiful thing to watch,' Trump wrote on Twitter.
'Only in these days of political correctness could such an overturn occur. The best horse did NOT win the Kentucky Derby - not even close!'
Trump misspelled 'Kentucky' in 'Kentucky Derby.'
The 145th running of the Triple Crown's most fabled race disintegrated into sportsmanship chaos after judges disqualified first-place finisher Maximum Security and declared runner-up Country House the winner.
TV viewers also were outraged by the result, blasting the race stewards who made the controversial call.
'Fixed! I'll never watch this again! Shame on you!' one fan declared in a tweet.
'Shameful! It was clear who won! #MaximumSecurity', added another.
While thousands were left shocked by the disqualification, it was very welcome news for one bettor who put money on Country House, an underdog with odds of 65-1.
According to sports analyst Darren Rovell, the person placed $2,500 on Country House before winning a whopping $133,000 in return.

Basically every country in the world except this one go by a standard set of rules.....we don’t
Sorry but after hearing all the commentaries by race afficionados, I have to disagree with the President. This is one time he should have kept silent on this very controversial subject..........
Goodie! Now when people accuse me of agreeing with every single thing President Trump says or tweets, I can truthfully say, “no, I don’t.”
I don't either, this isn't going to turn out very well for him........
If Obama had tweeted something like this wed all be like, doesnt he have anything better to do?
I agree. The horses came close to falling! There are rules for a reason.
Otherwise, I love Trump. He is the best of the best.
Who do you think you are, James Comey? !
Section 12 of rule 810 KAR1:016. The rule calls for disqualification if "a leading horse or any other horse in a race swerves or is ridden to either side so as to interfere with, intimidate, or impede any other horse or jockey."
You asked, “How did he (President Trump) feel about the non-interference call in the New Orleans Saints last game?”
Trump ripped the Ref for blowing the call.

Thanks.
“...presidential opinion on it...”
What exactly was “presidential” about his opinion???
The President has a right to voice his opinion just like you or I....
Lol!
That said ESPN 2 has a show on -E 60 about a different horse-"Lovely Finish" and her trainer who were both badly burned in one of the California Wildfires. (9:30 Pacific time and repeats Monday and Tuesday-check for those times if interested)
It is supposed to very well done. (And much less controversial).
“The President has a right to voice his opinion just like you or I.”
A “right” is not a need.
Again...What was “presidential” about his opinion????
He comes from big money. He has an extensive sports background. He knows how the fixes work. It’s an opinion shared by millions who watched the race.
So is the political correctness the fact that the trophy was taken from a light brown horse and given to a dark brown horse?
I never said he made a “presidential” statement.
However, what is germane, is whether or not a sitting president has a NEED to make a PUBLIC comment on everything under the sun that happens.
It is not a matter of whether or not a president has a “right” to comment PUBLICLY on ANYTHING, but whether they have a NEED to. They don’t.
And some think, rightly I believe, as the only “head of state” (the ‘ceremonial’ public face of the state) it detracts from the role as “head of government” for presidents to do so.
Trump is free to do what he wants, for sure. That does not mean that everyone, even many of his supporters, like myself, always must agree with everything he does.
I will always support Trump in many ways. That does not mean I will or I have to always agree with everything he does. Like Trump I have an independent mind and I speak it. If it offends you, too bad.
So just because he is president he should STOP participating in life?
Relax. He’s just expressing his opinion. Just like everyone else.
Yes, you did...

To use a phrase from Rhett Butler: Frankly Scarlet I dont give a damn. And I dont think any President should have a presidential opinion on it either. Id say the same thing no matter who was currently the president. Does it change how Id vote in 2020? No. But that is a different topic.
