PORT RICHEY, Fla (WFLA) - A Port Richey woman arrested on a child abuse charge is now free on bond.
When News Channel 8 approached 38-year-old Latoya Dortch about her arrest, she had no comment and rushed back into her home.
Investigators say she and the victim got into an argument at a home on Lancelot Road in Port Richey.
That's when they say she kicked him out and locked the door.
He broke into the house to retreive his seizure medication, which he has to take at certain hours of the day. He then left the home and started walking down the street.
Detectives say Dortch got behind the wheel of her 2018 Nissan Rogue and went after him.
"The suspect attempted to strike the victim several times, not just once. And again we have a witness who saw this occur multiple times, not just once," said Amanda Hunter, sheriff's office spokeswoman.
"So we're very fortunate the victim in this case was able to get out without serious injury."
Dortch faces a single child abuse charge.
Deputies released her from jail after she posted a $5,000 bond.

Is there something in the water in that state?
I didn’t realize Florida Man was married.
How old was the kid? What was the argument about? Who spray painted the shutters? Did she move his bed and stuff out to the curb? Geez, come on, journalists, give us the whole story.
Florida Man has some competition.
Not really, crazy people are in all states (see Maxine Waters and America’s Official Crackpot), but Florida have more normal people, so the crazies are on the news - not in political office...
Florida Man has some competition.

Not competition... partnership. Florida Man married Florida Woman.
Latoya.....
Wait! Don’t tell me.
That's true, but Florida seems to have more than its share of nutjobs and weirdos. There's at least one story a day on here about some wackjob weirdness out of Florida.
Isn’t there something on the books about trying to murder someone with a vehicle?
I’m telling ya. Where I live in AL, I see a lot of FL license plates on the highway, and the ones from the panhandle and Gulf coast are without a doubt, the worst drivers on the continent, as well. My wife and I decided to vacation in St. Augustine one year, and I had some raving lunatic get right up on my bumper in the left lane. I mean, inches. I was already doing 85 in a 70 zone on I-10, but I pulled over one lane to let this flower of humanity pass; he shot past me like a bottle rocket, and deliberately swung his rear into my lane before hitting triple digits. And yes, the car and driver were exactly what you’d imagine them to be if they were in a trailer park with a meth lab in the tub. Which is probably what’s in the water.
Wow. What a story.
I’m like you. Some nutjob is willing to risk his life and mine to pass me on the road, I move over and let him find someplace else to die.
Slower traffic move right. Still, he was rude for tailgating. Were you still passing cars to your right? d;^)
.
Glad ta see Fla-Man has some company. **sigh**

That should greatly diminish in the coming weeks as the snowbirds continue to leave here. However us “Crackers” still have to deal with the transplants who think they have to make it like it was wherever they came from up north.
If it was Maxine Waters, it would say Wig Color not Hair Color.
Assault with a deadly weapon; attempted murder.
You would have laughed at my wife and I when we first moved to Texas from California. We were so gracious and humble to every Texan we met. I mean, practically meek, we were so, so respectful.
On more than one occasion we actually apologized to a Texan for invading their state. I kid you not, and we meant it. Looking back, I'm sure we provoked some serious chuckles.
Yeah but they are just as likely then to get in front of you and then stand on their brakes.
