You read a paper like this - less than a year before the civil war starts.
Not even a clue what is coming.
Comparisons to today?

Really about 2 years. But yeah, it is the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about. Secession talk has been going on for years. After the 1860 Presidential campaign begins publicly in Charleston next April it will get louder, with southerners proclaiming an “abolitionist” Republican president will cause breakup of the union. But still, most people won’t really believe it.

Rosemary does not grow hair or cure dandruff.
But it flavors roast potatoes very nicely.

Dandruff is caused by either skin inflammation or a fungus related to yeast. Rosemary oil might help with either one of those, and curing an inflamed scalp might improve one’s hair growth.

“A Tale of Two Cities” is about to be released, just the thing for those who have trouble falling asleep. Just kidding, as Dickens goes, it’s a rip-roaring action tale.
Dickens’s heroines lack complexity.

Have you tried Park’s Prickly Plasters, page 14?

I need something to soothe the pain. A prickly plaster sounds like just the ticket.

It doesn’t explain why (or how) they are “prickly.”
