Starting the battle with a cavalry charge was not a good strategy. Cavalry is, in part, a shock weapon. You hit hard and fast and try to make the enemy break and run away. Then you chase them down and slaughter them. But it’s pretty obvious that the dead do not panic, will not break and will not run. The Dothraki died faster than I expected, I admit, but that was a suicide charge and I’m pretty surprised Danaerys didn’t realize it. She threw all of her Dothraki away.
Thanks! That line from several seasons ago seemed like a throwaway.
My thoughts too. You would have thought they would have at least gave them dragon glass weapons. They totally wasted a strong part of their army.
You can’t see it but I’ve got my hands over my ears, screaming NO NO NO NO!!!!
Maybe he took off. /hope
I’m waiting for Nymeria and her pack to pop back up.
Maybe they will sic Nymeria and her pack on the Golden Company...
(I can dream, can’t I?)
Isn’t there a connection between the faceless men and the golden company?
For some reason I expect that we will see Nymeria and Ghost again.
At least I hope so.
Two of my favorite characters right after Arya and The Hound.
If she had not shrieked in midair...
I’m not a tactician, but looking at how the battle played out, I can’t think of any scene where the cavalry would have made a difference. The Dothraki would have been of more use manning the walls. Although at one point, they could have been used either to flank the dead, or get around behind them. That’s assuming the Dead dragon didn’t get them first. Even then though, they would not have made a difference because the walls would still have been breached. Everything was to stall for time. It all came down to Bran, the NK, and Arya.
I was more annoyed that the dragons were not used as the first line of attack, frankly.
Should’ve burned the whole line of wights before sending out the riders.
They have DRAGONS, ffs.
“I cant think of any scene where the cavalry would have made a difference.”
Sweep around behind the Infantry wights, and kill the White Walkers who control them.
The red woman was on Arya’s list.
KABOOM!
