Baseball used to be a business which was run by owners with conservative, pro-American traditional values, and who displayed those values in the public presentation of the sport on and off the field. What a contrast between 1976, when Monday saved the flag at Dodger Stadium and was lauded for it, to today, when Kate Smith recordings of "God Bless America" are banned, when Donald Trump is not even invited to throw out the first ball on Opening Day, when Opening Day is held in Tokyo and not Washington, when there are "Gay Day" promotions in various stadiums, when at least one team has promotions with the pro-Islamist CAIR, when there are all kinds of initiatives to promote "internationalism," etc. Leftist stuffed shirts have taken over the ownership and administration of the baseball "industry" in a coup, just as they have many other once-iconic American institutions.
Somewhat surprised that a guy like Rick Monday still has a job in today's perverse baseball structure.

Today half the crowd in LA would probably be cheering for the flag burners and editorials trashing Monday for interfering with their “freedom of expression” would be written.
