FARMINGTON, N.M., March 15, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The San Juan Basin Energy Conference will be held Thursday, April 25th and Friday, April 26th at the Henderson Fine Arts Center at San Juan College in Farmington, NM. This two-day event will bring together the San Juan Basin's top companies and industry experts to share views on the oil and gas industry and discuss plans for the future within the San Juan Basin. The conference will be kicked off on Wednesday, April 24th with a dinner at the Courtyard by Marriott.

The San Juan Basin Energy Conference was founded to provide a forum for exchange of ideas regarding the development of the abundant energy resources found in the region. The theme of this year's conference is "Looking to the Future". A recent influx of dynamic oil and gas operators, bringing innovative applications of modern technology to the Gallup sandstone and the Mancos shale formations, promises to restore the San Juan Basin to its place as one of leading basins in the United States.

I hope that the people at this conference temper their exuberance with the knowledge that Governorlissima Lujan and her co-conspirators in the NM Legislature fully intend to destroy the oil and gas industry.

What one must realize that due to fracking in the USA we are sitting on great resources that will last many years into the future. Other nations that also sit on similar wealth have not exploited it yet. They are still going after the “easy oil.” They will in the future.

Yes, oil is a finite resource but not in our lifetimes or our grandchildren’s lifetimes. It is all about cost of recovery. When one considers surface shale oil by retort it is almost infinite but other sources of energy in the future will be more economic, and particular nuclear via advanced reactors using the thorium cycle or even plutonium reactors but that is a different subject laden with politics.

We have vast energy resources to be exploited if politics will get the hell out of the way.

PS
In 1963 I filled up my beat up old pickup for 37 cents a gallon. Today I filled my huge Ram 1500 for $2.35 cents a gallon. In inflation adjusted dollars it was $3.07 dollars in 1963. I think the oil companies are doing a pretty good job.

My huge Ram 1500 hundred gets far better gas mileage due to the incredibly superior engines that Detroit has engineered.
Unfortunately I can no longer work on these new modern engines. In the past I could. If it “aint right” I must take it to the dealer or a good mechanic. They are complex.

Today I am driving a far larger vehicle at less cost per mile.
