BRENTWOOD, NH (WMUR/CNN) - A New Hampshire homeowner is under court order to clean up his yard that's littered with thousands of boxes.
If he doesnt, the town will do it for him and stick him with the bill.
Meanwhile, his neighbors are hoping their community will finally go back to normal.
Michael Bates found himself back in court after failing to clean up his property in Salem, MA.
The town estimates that there are some 2,000 boxes containing printers in the yard.

And these “journalists” learned zip about the origins, the reason, for the collection of boxes, supposedly containing printers? Fake news.
Lot of unanswered questions. All we know is a guy has thousands of boxes in a Salem, MA yard, presumably full of printers. Not even an attempt to get a backstory.
Another very sloppy news article. Nobody is taught proper journalism anymore: Who, what, where, when and why?

Hmm...
Looks like he’s got a fetish for whatever He calls this.
Look at the bright side. The neighbors are not complaining that he never mows!
Not if his right to trash his property directly impacts his neighbors property values. If he were to live in Alaska or some far removed rural area, okay. Besides, there is such a thing as local zoning laws. While I don't agree with some, others make sense.
Good point.
Nah, he found out it was cheaper to buy a new printer and just put the cartridge into his current printer than it was to buy new cartridges.
Damn, it feels good to be a gangsta.
Internal printed circuit card assemblies may have gold wire conductive traces on them. He might be harvesting the gold from them.
Or, he might just actually be a nutcase hoarder...
There’s some answers in this article:
SALEM, N.H. Michael Bates cited his divorce, the Chinese ban on recyclables and an emotional decision to close his liquidation business as the reasons printer boxes are piled 5-feet high in the backyard of his home at 45 Maclarnon Road.
Salem town officials have been working for nearly a year to get the homeowners, Bates and his estranged wife Christina, to clean up the property.
Neighbors say the house has been empty for months and they are fed up with the trash. According to neighbor John Manning, the pile is attracting rats.
LOL!
:^D Yeah, it pays to research a printer purchase!
THANK YOU! for the background info.
So if he wants to paint a big purple eyeball on the side of his house, his neighbor has a right to stop him?
I mention this because I recall reading years ago that someone actually did this.
Since his property is in Massachussets (according to the article) I would tell N.H. to go pound sand, they have no jurisdiction over his property.
Tough rats if they eat old printers.
That is a lot of printers
“He just recently found out that he can buy replacement ink instead of buying a new printer all the time.”
Or...perhaps he found it cheaper to buy a new printer that came with ink, rather than pay ridiculous rip off prices of new replacement ink cartridges.
So you are sad that we cannot murder our neighbors if they have a messy yard?
