Houston guy racked up $5400 in unpaid fines.
In my day, we would go to the local cop shop, check out the POVs, looking for a car similar to the one we drove. Go to the library, jimmy up a license and print it off the color copier. Put it on the car, and then run through the red light at the camera intersection. Repeat about 5 times, go home and take the paper off the license plate.
Of course, this story is for amusement purposes only, and not to be confused with a real event or person.
that’s planning, and planning hurts head.
Several toll roads in Kentucky are now free.
“We don’t know how much he’s kept us from stealing from him”
Yep. I forget, what was the tailpipes? Gun?
Central Florida is a stinking maze of over priced toll roads. When they built the east west expressway the max toll was 15 cents. The roads never get paid off and just keep getting costlier. I don't know how the poor people there deal with it. Governments love toll roads, helps them claim they are keeping "taxes" down. Tolls are taxes. All so called user fees are taxes. Florida loves "user fees"
Toll roads are a beloved permanent revenue stream for the blood suckers.
Yeah, like a plate from a government issue car which would make for some interesting explanation(s) from the employee who was issues that vehicle.....
Damn straight. I am 100% against toll roads. For multiple reasons. One is that it is just another regressive tax on poor and poor working class people.
Canadians (or at least Ontarioans) often put a blue plastic film over their license plates. I assumed it was for the same purpose, but I imagine if so, the Gov’t would have banned it.
Years ago, the 520 bridge across Lake Washington in Seattle was a toll bridge, and when the bridge was paid off, the tolls went away. I think that was early 80’s. Now they have reimplemented the tolls on 520, as well as added toll HOV lanes on 405 up the eastside, where tolls can get as high as $13 for a one way trip.
But only in Florida, thank goodness.
Don’t forget the “infamous” hotel/motel room tax, which is on top of the sales tax. Basically a user fee for the room.
But on the positive Florida w/o an income tax had a budget of $92.5 billion for 2018 for a state with a population of approx. 20.6 million. Compare that to New York or Washington state both liberal cesspools and one with a state income tax, the other no state income tax New York 2018 budget $171 billion for a state with est. population of 19.88 billion and Washington’s 2018 budget of $ 99.4 billion for state with est. population of 6.1 million.
I’d say Florida is pretty sound financially at present, even with the use taxes being plentiful.
He must be a superhero.
American ingenuity at it’s best!
“I forget, what was the tailpipes?”
Oil slick.
I’m happy to hear that Florida is the the first place in the world to completely eliminate crime so their cops are free to focus on shickenchit stuff like this.
Over two years ago.....
Yes, the I-95 bridge, and all others in the city of Jacksonville, FL. Those which cross the St. John’s River. In a mayoral election quite a few years back the Conservative candidate vowed to remove ALL the bridge tolls (the I-95 one was ...25 cents exact change (ie. quarter) tossed in the basket. One change toll taker. All the lanes generally always backed for half a mile or more, esp. from 3 to 6 PM from sheer volume of people forced into the toll lanes (that would be, every single one, North or Southbound). The tolls were a nuisance.
They have never replaced any of the tolls and the candidate elected in a landslide several terms— did what he said he would do.
