Just something different from all the political news - which gives me a head ache and blurs my vision

Yeah but the current Star Trek universe is so politically correct it makes what’s left of my hair hurt.

Western sci-fi is dead. How much creative originality is really going to go into the 1000th revisitation to a franchise? Last western sci-fi worth watching was Moon.

Are they keeping the current cast and just vaulting everyone 950 years into the future? Or are they essentially ditching everyone, rebooting the entire series as a Next Gen off-shoot, and calling it Season 3?

So ST:D will be going 350 years into the future? I thought it was set 200 years before ST:TOS was supposed to be? So will it be after TOS?

Yeah, don’t you have to stream it from Amazon Prime? Some of us folks have very limited internet, living in the boonies, don’t ya know.

"We love playing within canon ... I also had experience working on the [J.J. Abrams] films where we were stuck with canonical problems ... Were now completely free of canon, and we have a whole new universe to explore.
Any guesses as to what today's secret word is?

I would like to see a series based on the idea that reality is shaped by a consensus view of reality, and there's a secret government agency in charge with preventing it, because, if people start to believe in a reality of UFOs, Bigfoots, trolls, shadow people, black eyed kids, fairies, djinn, and other assorted nasties, then these other dimensional beings will be able to more firmly manifest in our perceived Cartesian universe. A sort of mix between The Matrix, X-files, and The Mist.
I'm not a writer, but will contribute some awesomely creepy and heroic music to whomever steps up to produce it.

Crap. No canon? Then it’s just fantasy and revision. Crap.

I was sort of excited for Star Trek Discovery until they hired the lead, Sonequa something or other. She was on "The Walking Dead" ad was a thoroughly miserable character whose one defining characteristic was that she scowled all the time and was never happy. It was obvious that the script called for her to be happy on occasion but she couldn't pull it off at all.
I skipped it. Now I see reviewers talk about how her character is unhappy and scowly all the time. It will never get better folks, that's all she can do.

Never seen “STD” (an appropriately “punny” acronym). Not about to sign up for a streaming channel just to see it.
