NXIVM update.

Jury pool selection continues in the NXIVM trial. Today, the prosecution asked for a two-week delay for the start of the trial currently scheduled to begin April 29. Previously, when Allison Mack's attorneys asked for the 30-day delay, the judge smacked that down quick. He cited the fact that one defendant (Keith Raniere) is sitting in jail and any delays could affect him.

This time though, the prosecution is asking. They say pre-trial efforts are still underway. The lawyers for Raniere and Bronfman are objecting to any delays. More details at the link above.

As the article points out, more time before the trial starts means more time for plea-bargaining.

***UPDATE*** While I was composing the above, the judge decided to grant a 1-week delay, so the trial will now start on May 7.

As for the jury, a pool of 500 candidates will be thinned down to 12 jurors by April 22. There is a little controversy on one of the questions for the prospectives that seems to be trying to avoid jury nullification.

It's not looking like Keith Raniere or Clare Bronfman have any interest in a plea deal at this point. Kathy Russell is most likely to plea and now has another week to decide.

Clare's sister, the still-unindicted Sarah Bronfman-Igtet, is still in France. She's probably been told not to go to the US because there's probably indictments waiting for her if she does.

I found the information at the link very interesting.

Does anyone know who is behind FrankReport or their politics?

I completely agree with the principle described there, but I wonder if this is a leftwing site explaining the concept of jury nullification for the benefit of the derps. Not for the benefit of truth and justice.

The left was all against jury nullification when they were in control of the legal system. It was the only refuge of patriots. But now that they have lost control of the legal system, they seem to be looking for any loophole they can find to avoid justice.

The examples given at the link can be taken a number of ways. Interesting that the author would pick the Salem witch trials as one of the examples. Are we going to see a certain witch on trial??? And are there going to be allegations of actual witchcraft or satanism or something similar? Now that I’m forced to think about this, I have to say I have always believed (because I learned it in a government school) that the Salem witch trials were about hysteria and false accusations and that there were no such things as witches. I would still tread carefully in this area, but given what I’ve learned about being lied to by government/schools/media I’ll have to re-examine some of what I think I know on this topic.
