South Korean group Blackpink have set a record for the fastest music video to reach 100 million views on YouTube.
YG Entertainment, the group's management company, said the group's latest video 'Kill This Love' surpassed 100 million hits around 2pm on Sunday, just two days and 14 hours after being released.
The music video, published at midnight on Friday, received more than 10 million views in just four hours and 13 minute

Ping.
I’ll never understand this stuff, to me it looks and sounds like a zillion other manufactured pop songs with the cliched video, but to each his own I guess.
I think there’s a sense that K-Pop is more innocent than the stuff being produced here in the States and that is the attraction.
I always wondered, if Peter Lemonjello came out today in the age of Youtube, would he too get 100 million views?

Interesting.
"Had to..." ?
South Korea is a much more conservative society. They frown on faggotry, watch any music video from an American or British act, most videos shoehorn in some sort of faggotry.
That’s also the attraction of K-Dramas, they aren’t as smut-filled as the stuff Hollywood puts out.
Youve got it exactly right!
My granddaughter thinks they are like little kids.....in other words, non threatening
Her friends love the K Pop boys!
You sound like a fun parent.Enjoy those kids.
I dont know about this girl group....
....but BTS is a boy group and all the rage!

I watched a Korean show on netflix recently called Kingdom and noticed this. It was a nice change.
Plus it was a zombie show set in what I’m assuming is the late 1700’s. Koreans sure know how to do up a good zombie story. It was outstanding and I’m looking foward to season 2!
I do try to keep up with it and try to have an open mind.
I keep in mind that when The Beatles first hit it big, most older folks at the time thought their music was crap and joked about how they couldn't even play their instruments properly (they thought they were "out of tune").
Not only were The Beatles great musicians (and very polished performers) but they wrote some of the greatest pop songs of the 20th Century. But the older folk wrote them off.
With all the Rrr-up-bup-pups and rapid shifts it is reminiscent of Israeli Netta Barzilai’s Eurovision-winning song.

My favorite all-time KDrama is “The Master’s Sun”. So many funny moments. I’ll watch anything with Gong Hyo-Jin in it.
K-pop is fine but there are big misconceptions about the stars:
They neeeever get rich. A lot of them never even make average incomes. Developing them into stars is expensive —it’s like a loan.
When they make it (unlikley), the vast majority of their income is confiscated.
The contracts are totally crazy, far beyond the leverage common in Hollywood.
Again I have no problem with K-pop and I LOVE Korea.
But, yeah.
I discovered “Gangnam Style” on youtube a few years ago and have watched it a few times. The song is very entertaining...the video is kinda weird.
