The 'terrible' hypocrisy that got Chicago's first black lesbian mayor elected
CNN ^ | April 7, 2019 | John Blake

Posted on 04/07/2019 8:41:08 PM PDT by EdnaMode

Lori Lightfoot did something during her victory party last week that once would have been considered obscene.

As Chicago's beaming mayor-elect stood at a podium, she turned toward her wife, Amy Eshleman, and kissed her in full view of a roomful of jubilant supporters while photographers snapped away.

The images of that moment looked like a sneak preview of a New America breaking through -- a black, gay woman kissing her white wife before a mini-rainbow coalition of onlookers. And nobody raised an eyebrow.

But focus on just the black supporters in that room and another image emerges. The black vote -- especially members of black churches who mobilized on her behalf -- was crucial to Lightfoot's victory.

What if Lightfoot had been standing in the pulpit of one of those black churches when she kissed her wife?

"In probably 90% of the black churches, she would be put out or asked to leave," says the Rev. Martha Simmons, a scholar on black preaching and a consultant to an upcoming PBS special on the black church.

There is a cruel irony in Lightfoot's election that few, if any, are talking about. Many of the same black voters who asked her to lead their city wouldn't dare ask her to lead their own churches because she is a gay woman. Women and LGBTQ members are still treated like second-class citizens in many black churches across America.

It’s never enough. Even in victory, they’re still “victims.”

Nonsense! Mere mortals are not allowed to dictate, define and change morality at their whim. We are here: “If there are no absolutes by which to judge society, then society is absolute.” Francis Schaeffer, How Shall We Then Live? (Old Tappan NJ: Fleming H Revell Company, 1976), p. 224.

Black, lesbian, MARXIST mayor. That should work out well.

The media are not blameless. Even in this story where an openly gay, black woman beat the odds to become mayor of Chicago, the media has to find bogeymen to shower rain on their own rainbow parade.

I just marvel that they singled out an important voting bloc on their own side to be the bogeymen.

Typical of CNN bias, gay and lesbian people are not treated as second class citizens by black churches. That is a damnable lie and to be expected coming from the vile and foul CNN. They are treated by black churches as living in and celebrating sin. Unlike most mainline white Christian churches black churches are still Christian and still adhere to Christian morality.

What bothers me more is those irresponsible Christians (black or white) who would not have that woman lead their churches, think her fit to lead a city. How are those Christians going to explain this on judgment day?

Wow, shocked that such an article was published on CNN.

Why is that? The author is castigating Blacks for not being radical enough, not sufficiently accepting of sexual deviancy, not "down with the revolution" enough:

"There is a cruel irony in Lightfoot's election that few, if any, are talking about. Many of the same black voters who asked her to lead their city wouldn't dare ask her to lead their own churches because she is a gay woman. Women and LGBTQ members are still treated like second-class citizens in many black churches across America."

Well, I was impressed, too, until I saw the last sentence of this excerpt:

To me it just proves that blacks will vote for any POS as long as there’s a ‘D’ by it. Minds are a terrible thing to waste....and so are values.

The black Christians know that city of Chicago isn’t the church and isn’t run by the same rules. Scripture says nothing about the moral and personal qualifications necessary to be a mayor, but it does say something about the qualifications necessary to be a minister of the Gospel.

What a coincidence! I just loaned out my copy of that book to a friend yesterday afternoon. I explained to my friend that it gave a really good description of the progression of philosophy through the centuries.

A really follow-on to that book is D.A. Carson’s “The Gagging of God”. Carson picks up where Schaeffer left off and explains the impact of Postmodernism, which gave us multiculturalism.

Lightfoot? Is that an American Indian name?

Isn't hogging the various minority statuses some sort of Cultural Appropriation?

This isn't right! She has to pick one and give the rest back!

Torah absolutely prohibits deviant sexual relationships. It is a living breathing organic Whole. In Christian bibles It’s called “The Law”. Sadly, over the centuries, the movement started by a Galilean Rabbi has drifted away from his teachings which engaged the totality of the Torah. It now teaches that “We are not under the Law”. So it follows naturally that we are not obligated to keep it; ostensively with regards to the (Saturday) Sabbath, eating unclean foods etc., but in principal, we are free from it, and free to do as we please, and free to break some of the commandments as long as we are ‘nice people’. There is a psychological concurrent to try to balance out the scorecard with niceness. And it’s not just Gay people who do it; we all do it. The collapse of Christianity and Western Civilization we are now witnessing is the amalgam of this partial departure from the Torah. The Biblical inheritance that made The West great has been depleated, and what’s left is being wasted on riotious living. Our Culture’s Spiritual Bank Account is empty and the checks are bouncing: “Insufficient Funds”. When this civilization does collapse the only thing left to put in its place will be pure, immoral, overwhelming Power. The power of Man, standing alone, with no greater power over him to restrict and order his machinations. This is the Man, in the “New Testament” (Greek) known as “anthropos tes anomias”, literally, “without the Law”. The Letter to the Thessalonians calls him “The Man of Sin”. He’s coming soon to a town near you, to take the hearts and minds of your children, and to destroy everything that you hold dear. He’s already ruling in Chicago.

A typical leftist lie methodology: “Women and LGBTQ members are still treated like second-class citizens in many black churches across America.” Women are not treated as second class citizens in any Black Churches of record, and rejection of the sexual degenerates by black churches may just be because black people have the same Holy Spirit teaching them that all CJRISTIANS have. Sexual degenerates are an abomination in God’s sight and He says so in no wishy washy terms.
