* 2.5 seconds radio transit time (round trip to moon and back) is going to make human remote control very hard.
* robot precision is greater then human precision.

I have been suggesting doing this for years. The one sticking point is that optimally the robots are nuclear powered. Otherwise it is a very sensible approach.
