A 17-foot-long female python, the largest ever captured at Big Cypress National Preserve in Florida's Everglades, took four people to hold it. A team of researchers posted a breathtaking photo of the snake on the Big Cypress Facebook page.
Big Cypress said the snake sent a new record for the area.

Develop it enough, and maybe find some remnants of Flight 19.

The Everglades and their water flow provide spawning and nursery grounds for billions of dollars worth of sea food and game fish. Having been on hikes in Big Cypress and the Everglades, I know from experience that the deadly creatures tend to avoid people. It is the mosquitoes that drive you nuts.
Somebody tell me what good they are?
Amazing.
He probably dumped it in the everglades . ..and voila!
They murdered this innocent serpent!
Where is the outrage???
Where is PETA?!?!
Diversity makes us stronger?
The Everglades also resupplies fresh water to much of the aquifer that provides drinking (etc.) water to most of S. FL. In fact, agricultural and other development has already caused considerable problems with saltwater contamination of freshwater supplies.
Amen. The depletion of the freshwater aquifer also seems to have contributed to ground subsidence in the Miami area.
Balderdash. Lake Okeechobee supplies most of South Florida’s drinking water. There’s no need to keep the Everglades in protected status. It is a useless swamp that should be drained and developed into prime real estate.
>> I heard that when it eventually got to about 17 or 18 feet the neighbor got rid of it.
“got rid of it”. In South Flori-duh speak, that means take ol’ Cletus the pet snake out to the ‘Glades and dump him. No doubt the dumbasses were singing “born free” when they did it.
Freeper Glades Guru (R.I.P.) lived out by 40 mile bend, and saw a cobra crossing the road one day (probably an escapee from Bill Haast’s Serpentarium).
