Texas's Republican House Speaker on Friday moved to drop the state's "constitutional carry" legislation after a gun rights activist showed up at his home to push for the bill. Dennis Bonnen said the bill was "dead" after Chris McNutt, the executive director of Texas Gun Rights, appeared at his home to advocate for the controversial legislation that would allow Texans to carry firearms without a license, The Dallas Morning News reported. McNutt, according to the outlet, drove 50 miles south of Houston last Wednesday before turning up at Bonnen's house to question why the legislation wasn't moving forward faster. The paper reported that McNutt had posted rants on Facebook about the lack of movement on the bill prior to driving to Bonnen's house.

Interesting. Maybe we should all show up at his house and ask him about this.

Not sure how to feel about this. I understand the frustration on the part of the gun rights activist and have to scratch my head at why this bill was taking so long to move through a deep red legislature.

But on the other hand, lawmakers are people too and have families and as such, cannot be put under siege by the masses (like Democrats do).

I think what this episode demonstrates more than anything is the people’s growing frustrations with government at all levels. They’re sick and tired of voting for people who promise to do certain things but then fail repeatedly to deliver on them or even move on them.

I fear a reckoning is coming that will be really destructive for our country and I don’t want to see it.

“McNutt”? A gun advocate?

Almost as an inconvenient name as Buttigieg.

Texas's Republican House Speaker [also known as Cheap Folding Lawn Chair...] on Friday moved to drop the state's "constitutional carry" legislation after a gun rights activist showed up at his home to push for the bill.

Emphasis and clarification is mine. He drops a bill after someone who supports it wanted to talk to him? I feel sorry for my home state...

So the whole state is punished for the actions of one.

If politicians can knock on your door, give you a sales pitch to vote for them. Why then can’t you knock on their door and ask about their legislation they promised ? Seems a bit one sided.

The capitol building in Austin is full of guns. I’ve carried in there many times. This fellow is surrounded by guns constantly.

Left wingers implicitly threatening folks they disagree with, nothing new. It’s how they operate.

What the hell?!

If activists show up at any democrats office asking about legislation they’d double down.

This twit drops the bill?

It’s insane and he needs to be taken out of office.

I’m not torn about this at all - he obviously NEVER believed in the legislation and obviously hates talking to his constituents but hey, one passionate guy bans the legislation for all?

Madness and typical of these RINOs

they may have families- but they were elected to work on behalf of the people and when the fella wasn’t acting on something he had promised his constituents, the people decided to go and confront him about it personally- They felt he got elected on a promise he then didn’t keep afte3r he was elected from what i gather- I don’t believe he was ‘put under siege’- he was visited by one man and questioned about his backpeddling on a promise he made to protect the second amendment to get elected-
