I don’t thin people should bother politicians in their own homes, but I think this guy was just looking for an excuse to drop the bill.
Mcnutt obviously never watched “school house rocks”. That’s not how bills are argued.
I can’t understand how people still consider Texas to be a red state. It surely operates like a dem paradise.
I also think a lot of good lawmakers were terrified after what happened at a certain baseball game in the park.
You have to wonder about the legislator’s response.
Does it mean he is dropping a pretense that they were really going to move the bill? Or is he reacting negatively, and in a “pay back” fashion, to what he felt was intimidation; attempting to suggest the bill might have otherwise had a chance? Or would that be just a cover for the true story? Maybe in time we’ll know the answer.
He should have said, Get off my property or Ill shoot.
Extortion is easy, apparently.
This was not that AT ALL. Bonnen was never going to allow the bill to go ahead anyway, and thinks he looks righteous in going after 2A supporters, who he thinks are 'nuts'. Bonnen hates 2A supporters. Just look at how he describes Chris:
Bonnen said McNutt's decision to show up at his house unannounced was a demonstration of insanity and called him an "overzealous advocate for criminals to get a gun."This sounds more like New Yorker Bill De Blasio than a TX Republican. Bonnen was never going to allow him into his office to speak about this. Like Chris said:
"If politicians like Speaker Dennis Bonnen think they can show up at the doorsteps of Second Amendment supporters and make promises to earn votes in the election season, they shouldn't be surprised when we show up in their neighborhoods to insist they simply keep their promises in the legislative session,"Unfortunately, this is "New Texas", and it's going to get worse. And it's NOT Californians doing it, it's Texas' own children.
Politician's homes are not their offices, unless they say so.
Unless invited, you go to the politicians office.
That should go for everyone, even the press.
Oh my God! You mean our rulers don’t get to live in anonymity? Inviolate in their home? The world outside is risky?
Welcome to the party pal. Texas gun laws are ridiculously backwards, and heavily restrictive. The DPS has far too much influence in such legislation
Why? As somebody else pointed out politicians have no problem at all bothering you at your home both personally, and with the legislation they pass. It’s a serious question why should a politician get some sort of peace and quiet at home?
Sorry sport, you can’t murder someone for standing there trespassing.
Funny, the politicians seem to draw no distinction that our house should be private. Seriously, they don’t. They feel they have a right to go there personally and discuss something with you, and they feel an even stronger right to reach into your home with legislation. They aren’t royalty, they are Representatives and are available everywhere they go, 100% of the time.
But they are our employees, and they need to answer to us when asked why they are not doing what they are told.
Yep. My wife read some analysis that indicated in the election of Cruz-Beto, more California transplants voted for Cruz than for Beto. When I see long-time Texans *still* wearing "Beto for Texas" T-shirts, I really wonder what is going in the state.
Texas is a target state and so is Florida.
‘...long-time Texans *still* wearing “Beto for Texas” T-shirts, I really wonder what is going in the state. ”
Its a “coolness” issue!
Its “cool” among the hipster (hipster - upper class wannabes with no class!) “yutes” to wear it like a “che t-shirt” only un-cool low class “red necks’ say wear something TEXAN!
All of those swanky new highrise condos going up in downtown Austin are being built for the Globalist lobbyists ....
The last person we saw wearing one last weekend was a lady in her 60s.
Che or Beto?
Either way she was reliving he ill-spent yute!
Bonnen should have introduced the McNutt to the Castle Doctrine.
It probably means they are gay. If I see a white with a Beto sticker on a car, there is usually either a rainbow or an 'equal' sticker.
