Got one of those unwanted solicitation phone calls today. Woman asked if I wanted lower shipping rates? I said, "Let me ask you a question first." Did you vote for Trump? pause on the line
.. Than, I said I only do business with people who voted for Trump. ...
She Hung up!
And while many numbers are reported each year, no one is fining them.
I love screwing with them and use a foreign accent like someone who does not understand English. Get them to the point where they hang up on you and they never call back.
Super!
Nice!
I get that digital female voice. This last time It said it had to do with SS# fraud. I went to my local SS# office and they listened to the voicemail and checked my SS# account. They the interaction in the account, but no action can be taken. She did advice me that they would write me if they wanted ti contact me. SS doesnt call you unless they are returning a call to you, that you initiated.
The problem for me is we are doing some house renovation work and I’m contacting lots of suppliers and potential contractors. So I need to answer lots of unknown calls. It they show from far away I won’t answer them. But even that causes problems - I filed an insurance claim for water damage this winter and they are making calls without caller ID! Very weird of a big company to not have caller ID, especially an insurance company.
been waiting to see a thread on phone calls to report this:
I have been getting about one or two messages a day left from various and sundry. Annoying to hear a message say to press this number for ,,, and this to stop getting called.
WELL!!!!!!!! about 2, maybe 3 weeks ago IT STOPPED !!??
The phone rings, less often, but NO MESSAGE LEFT.
Actually I just erased one I got today or yesterday, one I had not heard before.
I have just been Praising The Lord ! and thanking PDJT cause he must have told the phone co’s to cut it out.
A friend responded in that matter and then received calls every 30 minutes all night until he finally took the phone off its hook. They could have, but did not, repeat the treatment the next day.
On my cell phone when I receive a call from an unknown source, I push a button than replies, "I do not respond to telemarketing calls. If your message is legitimate, please text it. On my land line, I disconnect the call without actually answering.
Just hang up. Giving the caller a hard time wont get you anywhere.
Better yet, if you dont recognize the caller ID dont answer it.
I’m going to use that.
“Have you thought about having your carpet shampood today”?
An interesting way to weed them out. When my sister had blind dates a couple decades ago she’d ask, “Who did you vote for?” If the answer was “Clinton”, that was the end of that.

My phone frequently rings three times and then stops (before the voicemail activates). It takes me three rings to get to the phone most times.
ATT was calling me twice a day to sell me cable. I finally told the caller that my only connection with ATT was this land line and it is a convenience not a necessity and that if I got so much as one more call from ATT for any reason I would terminate the land line which I have had for 40 years. I’ve not heard from ATT since.
I’ve taken to answering all of them, but not saying anything. I figure it ties up their equipment for a few seconds. If we all did that, it may make a dent in their profits, or at least slow them down from calling the next person.
Classic!
All I know is if I ever run into Rachel from Card Member Services, I am going to give it to her, but good.
Robokiller works well for me.
