I knew her as an early, good, Star Trek novelist back when original novels were the only way you could buy (I wasn't yet aware of free fanfic) new material in the franchise. Her success there resulted in her being chosen to write the novelizations of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th ST movies. Her politics didn't interfere with my enjoyment back then.
