It was disappointing...and sad. And THAT, FRiend, is why this movie is so anticipated. Most of the people seeing it were so sad from the ending of ‘Infinity war’ that they’re wondering how in the hell Marvel’s gonna fix the “universe”.
I think you're right..that was a totally unexpected ending.

A lot are curious if they will let “Captain SJW’ (in Spanish, “El Bitcho Nontropo”) will ruin it. Rumor has it they shot 2 different versions, one featuring her and another with her in the background.
If they feature her it will kill the franchise like Last Jedi did Star Wars and Discovery did Star Trek.
” how in the hell Marvels gonna fix the universe”
Time vortex in the Quantum Realm will enable them to go back in time. That’s why they’re wearing those uniforms in the trailers.
Basically, he’s now God. I’m sure they will come up with some sort of far fetched and incredible solution, but I’ve lost interest, and they lost me with that lame, over the top ending.
Reminds me of those cliffhangers from the 40’s and 50’s. When you see the good guy die for sure one episode, then at the beginning of the next one you see what is, for all intents and purposes, a different ending of the last episode, making escape easy. Lame.
Those characters aren’t dead and Guardians of the Galaxy being in production makes that quite clear.
“It’s only a movie”
The ending is sad because it is not an ending. The end of Infinity War is supposed to signify how MUCH they lost due to Thanos winning.
I see Thanos as like a democrat/environmentalist/Leftist/socialist. He thinks there are too many beings in the universe consuming not enough resources, so kill half. Fair? Yeah, like communism! They didn’t build that.
So in End Game the Avengers are going to defeat the Commie Thanos and restore the Adam Smith like capitalist universe that Thanos tried to “fundamentally change”.
Infinity War was part ONE of a TWO part series. End Game is part TWO.

Magic, Duh!
. . . Wait wrong franchise
They’re not going to fix the Marvel universe. The underlying real-world issue is that most of the actors are done. They’re ready to move on.
The only choice of the studios is to re-boot, like was done with the X-men franchise.
