Whole Foods will slash prices on hundreds of items starting Wednesday, extending its focus beyond enticing Prime shoppers. The specialty grocer's last major price cut for all customers was in Nov. 2017. In the interim, it has been rolling out more perks catered to members of Amazon Prime, like offering them an extra 10 percent off discounted products. Amazon, which acquired Whole Foods in July 2017, had hoped to convert more Prime members into Whole Foods shoppers. The better Whole Foods is able to sync in-store shopping with Amazon Prime, the better it will be able to target its ads and promotions.

Aldi is a good store for very basic things like coffee, milk and even produce, TP, etc. The meat department isn’t my favorite part, there is a freshness issue I think. Aldi is cheaper than Walmart and it will save you hundreds of dollars per year on your grocery bill.
I agree....
Aldi is making a major push to open up many many more stores. Their products are getting much better as well.
Although I do still use them for the rare item that can’t be easily found elsewhere, I try to support Amazon as little as possible these days. A local farmer’s market is a better option than Whole Foods anyway.
Many local farmers markets are full of resellers. Ask who picked the produce, who milked the cows, etc. - surprising really. I found many to be worse than retailers.
“Pretty much every grocery can be ruled off limits to FReepers for one reason or another.”
We need our own stores.
We need our own social media.
We need our own news media.
We need our own, secure web browser.
We need our own neighborhoods, cities, states.
We need our own country?
My local grocer does this once a week on particular items. Its called putting things on sale. CNN and Fox dont usually cover it though. So, a sale is now national news. Got it.
“You had to use your smart phone to get the Prime discount”
well, for Luddites like myself, they have an option on their website to link a phone number to ones prime account for the purpose of getting the whole foods prime discount simply by subsequently giving the checkout clerk the phone number, pretty much the same as any other loyalty card checkout at other stores ....

sounds like a plot to starve boycotting FReepers ...

They can always head to Chick-fil-A (6 days a week).
“A local farmers market is a better option than Whole Foods anyway.”
not ours ... only about three ACTUAL truck farmers sell at ours... all the others are wannabees, resellers, candle makers, salsa makers, etc.
“My local grocer does this once a week on particular items. Its called putting things on sale. CNN and Fox dont usually cover it though.”
we even get grocery sale flyers in the mail every week!
Now known as “Almost Whole Paycheck”
They’re great if $20.00 pints of soup is your thing. I can’t afford to shop there.
I don’t know if Whole Foods is anything like our local food “co-ops”, then count me out. The leftism is palpable. Geez, everyone has beards and runs around in tie dye. But the organic bananas don’t fund wars of imperialism...or at least that is what the posters say...
Trader Joe’s and Wegmans are better.
Whole Foods is a wonderful store. I go there to stock up on sprouted nuts, fish, meats and cheese.
I don't like Trader Joe's...far too "hippy dippy" for me.But Wegman's is excellent...they just opened one close to me a couple of months ago.
