Mrs. Dono's Letter to Her Whole Parish re; Climate Change Action for Lent"
New Oxford Review Blog/Narthex ^ | March 26, 2019 | Mrs Don-o

Posted on 04/01/2019 9:41:22 AM PDT by Mrs. Don-o

When I took these "Climate Crisis Lent" concerns to my pastor, he suggested this was a a good topic for constructive dialogue. So I finally "screwed my courage to the sticking point" and sent it out to everybody in my parish for whom I have e-mail addresses (several hundred names) plus my Bishop, the head of the Diocesan Adult Faith Formation program, the Chancellor and various other Chancery people, and miscellaneous "randos".

Incidentally, find that the hot-link does not work but the cut and paste definitely does. So I invite you to cut-and-paste:

Gore-bull worming is more of a Unitarian Commie thing.

The Catholic clergy need to keep their vestments zipped especially around altar boys.

Just interesting. To read it without scrolling interruptions, I had to copy the text and paste it into MSWord.

If I just happened across it on a surfing binge, I would not have read it at all.

That said, I stolt one of your comments for my Lib sis-in-law.

https://rorate-caeli.blogspot.com/2015/02/book-of-gomorrah-new-publication-of-st.html

...St. Peter Damien (1007-1072) Abbot of the Fonte Avellana Monastery and subsequently Cardinal/Bishop of Ostia, was one of the most outstanding figures of Catholic reform in the XI century. His Liber Gomorrhianus, appeared around 1049, in an age when corruption was widely spread, even in the highest ranks of the ecclesiastical world. In this writing, addressed to Pope Leo IX, Peter Damien condemns the perverted habits of his time in a language that knows no false mercy or compromises. He is convinced that of all the sins, the gravest is sodomy, a term which includes all the acts against nature and which want to satisfy sexual pleasure by separating it from procreation. “If this absolutely ignominious and abominable vice is not immediately stopped with an iron fist – he writes – the sword of Divine wrath will fall upon us, bringing ruin to many.”

...He did not moderate his language, but kept it fiery to show his indignation. He was fearless in voicing an uncompromising hatred for sin and it was precisely this hatred that rendered his love burning for the Truth and the Good.

...Today, at the beginning of the third millennium of Christ’s birth, priests, bishops and Episcopal conferences are arguing for married priests; they are placing in doubt the indissolubility of the marriage bond between man and woman and at the same time, accepting the introduction of laws for homosexual pseudo-marriage. Sodomy is not being thought of as a sin that cries to God for vengeance but is diffused in seminaries, colleges, ecclesiastical universities and even inside the Sacred Walls of the Vatican itself.

...Liber Gomorrhianus reminds us that there is something worse than moral vice practiced and theorized. It is the silence that should speak, the abstention that should intervene, the bond of complicity that is established among the wicked and of those, who with the pretext of avoiding scandal are silent, and, by being silent, consent. Graver still, is the acceptance of homosexuality by churchmen, thought of as a “positive” tension towards the good, worthy of pastoral care and juridical protection and not as an abominable sin.

I passed your comments about te deficiencies of the Webpage on to the Narthex editor, Barbara Rose.

I also passed on that the URL refused to work as a hotlink. I have to tell everybody to just cut and paste.

I suppose this tells us something about our modern mentality, that it seems a bit much to expect people to cut-and-paste the URL, AND THEN cut-and-paste the article into a Word program.

But this is our world...

This is so exactly true.

And people forget that contraceptive acts are a form of heterosexual sodomy.

On sodomy, contraception and abortion: If we get "a punishment that we deserve, a punishment which corresponds to our evil deeds," as St. Dismas said on the cross next to Jesus, we've got a hard judgment coming.

May we have the grace to accept it as corresponding to our crimes, and, repenting with all our heart, say with confidence to Jesus: "Lord, remember me when you come into Your Kingdom."

Until the Church seriously cleans out the homosexual cabal that has increasingly infiltrated the clergy even at the highest levels, they have become irrelevant and bankrupt of moral leadership on anything

Until the Church does X...they have become irrelevant and bankrupt of moral leadership on anything

Until the Church does Y...they have become irrelevant and bankrupt of moral leadership on anything

Until the Church does Z...they have become irrelevant and bankrupt of moral leadership on anything

Same old baloney

They have the word of God to tell them how to deal with sin in their midst.

I can point it out, but the problem is not mine to fix.

I can’t make them obedient to God.

Your church.

YOU fix it.

Why anyone would want to appear to defend the disgusting behavior of the Catholic hierarchy is beyond me.

Since they refuse to address their own in house problems, they are in no position to go preaching at others about what they should or should not be doing.

Lead by example then get back to us.

TGRJ is quite correct.

You might be able to fix your Church. Mine needs a Messiah. Fortunately we have one, and I’m under no illusions that I am He. As he has shown in the Old Testament, He has patient and is willing to put up with a lot—the time will come to separate the wheat from the tares, but that’s up to Him, not meet.

I’m sure your church is grateful for you, though.

Don’t worry! They just announced that any reports of molestation must now be reported to Church investigators immediately. Problem solved!

(Must I really add /s?)

I told Barbara Rose, who runs the blog for New Oxford Review, about the troubles you've been having with illegibility at the Narthex website.

She responded with the following:

"Do you know the people who commented on the website's (lack of) quality well enough to ask them what kind of device and browser they were using? The webmasters and I don't know what they mean by "interruptions" and "resolution." I'd really like to understand."

Beinst I don't know anything about computers, may I ask you to dialogue a bit with Barb and the webmaster? The e-mail is:

brose@newoxfordreview.org

Thanks very much.

BTW - I have the same problem, or similar. The font color looks gray to me, and it's too small. I have to toggle it to "reader view" and then bump up the font size to make it legible.

As you say, your typical casual visitor would just say "screw it" and not read it.

She is likely right via-a-vis the browser. I’m constrained to an old version of MSExplorer. From what I can tell, it doesn’t render the nuances of HTML5.

Thank you!

I hope you can extend its effectiveness by sending it -— or something very like it -— to your own pastor and bishop.

Not only do we need to pray for our leaders: we need to lead them.
