Saw the preview on CBS “Sunday Morning.” It sounds like the stories will mostly have a “social justice” flavor - about race, the poor, etc. I’m sure one will be about some powerful politician too. Trying to recreate a successful original series using today’s political climate buzzwords may please the elites but likely will not catch on with us unwashed “deplorables.”

I remember when the new “Roswell” came on.

I thought, well the original was pretty good so I will check it out. I had not watched a full minute before there was some crap about immigration and sicking the ACLU on someone.

I never got to see the rest so don’t know if it was any good. I had already turned the channel.

You’re probably right. When I was very young I used to read Horror. There was a new series of books I started. Read maybe the first 3 titles and lost the habit. Jump ahead 35 years, I spot the same series now into its thirty-somthing title. Amused, I buy it for the bedside table.

Wow. Horror today involves the ghosts of slaves, battered woman, the victims of capitalist pigs and on and on. Not one story was the random, imaginitive horror the series started out on.

I couldn’t finish the damn book. What I’d always liked about these stories was the authors honest effort to creep out the reader. There is nothing creepy about slaves. Slaves are sober and sad. They’re pathetic, NOT scary.

Serling was a liberal and the original “twilight zone” was full of social justice themes for its time.
