I started using Bing over Google as I was sick and tired of Google working with China's military, but not working with ours. They ban gun videos on Youtube. They help authoritarian countries institute censorship in search results. All the while we use them and they make money off of us. Google is Evil.
Bing rewards you for your searches no different than the credit card companies do with their rewards. Using Google with no rewards is akin to using a credit card with no rewards. And Microsoft actually is a patriotic company and does not kow tow to the leftist communist programmers. I got a $5 Amazon gift card after only a few weeks of using Bing.
Make the switch. I am glad I did.
I don’t think I have an account with Bing/Microsoft, nor am I logged in anywhere when I use it. I’ll check again, but I don’t think so.
Nobody said Google isn’t evil. We’re scoffing at you acting like MS isn’t. Really any complaint you can have about Google applies just as much to MS:
Monopoly - MS is much more of a monopoly than Google ever will be
Kowtowing - China, MS bends much more backwards for China than Google ever will
Giving to SJW causes - Oh yeah
Selling your personal information to the highest bidder - Windows 10 is just as monitory as Google
Really you’re acting like a couple of pictures on 2 holidays a year have meaning. In reality you’re bragging how one sleazebag company gave you a gift card to ANOTHER sleazebag company and you’re so proud that means you didn’t work with a third. Go you.
Yep, sure thing. They did however one time stand up for their PC Users privacy just for show. They then turned right around and created Windows 10 full of backdoors.
I use Walmart. I do one big order per month for any hard goods we need. Paper towels, TT, vitamins, coffee, etc. It all gets delivered right to my door. Then I use Walmart grocery delivery for actual groceries. Ordered Thursday morning and they were delivered at 2 in the afternoon. I don’t mind running to the store for a few items but just hate actual grocery shopping.
Then if I need something big like a printer or vacuum cleaner or something I use their pick up at the desk service.
Walmart has made my life much easier.
I have an app, does that count?
I got tired of Duck Duck go and right now looking for something just as secure. There are other alternatives out there just have to test them out.
The problem I have with DD go is if my search is in anyway related to any of their sponsors the first two pages are all links to just their own sponsors. I have to dig too far to get the “neutral” source options of the search criteria.
Sometimes it even happens if you put in a straight up domain URL. You get a whole bunch of their sponsor ad stuff first before you get the direct website of the direct URL later in the list. That’s pretty bad. lol
If you do a search for 'walmart grocery delivery promo code' you should find a promo code that will get you free delivery on your same day groceries. I have used 'DELIVERY' successfully, but I don't know if it is expiring at the beginning of April.
I haven’t noticed that...but I use it mostly on my phone, that may be why.
OIC - you must have this so they can track your usage to be eligible for the Amazon gift cards. That makes sense, I guess. I don’t use it like that, tho.
LOL, ditto
Exactly! Do people think because they get a $5 freebie all is well?? SMDH
Because they throw all their sponsors ad links in first, you have to dig WAY back to finally get to what you are looking for. I have been using Qwant the last few days to test it out and I like the search results so far, very comprehensive and don’t seem to be manipulated, and they claim to not track.
But it all depends on who owns it... Still chasing that down.
Yes.
Duck-Duck-Go and Firefox is my personal choice. I'm not that tech savvy but I know Google is demon country.
Sorry. Mistakenly included a quote from another string.
Google no longer offers keyword suggestions as far as I can tell
Actually I think you are right, I noticed that on my phone too, it isn’t as bad. But the only main problem I have with DDgo is while they do not track you, the search results are from google. So what ever censoring and manipulation google is already doing just gets forwarded. DD go doesn’t use their own spiders to get their own personal search results.
I have been testing Qwant and I am getting VERY GOOD search results for my search criteria. They claim to not track either but that depends on who owns them. Digging into that as I get time also. But track or not the results so far do not seem to be censored or manipulated. I am getting much more comprehensive results.
I just went through using startpage and they straight up tell you they are finding what THEY think I am looking for. No... that
is as bad as google. I don’t need a search engine telling me what they think I am looking for. lol
Give me ALL results available and I will choose for myself.
I have done that a few times. The “hanging” copy and paste. It’s got me in trouble a few times because I am posting in several forums at one time and the content from the one DID NOT belong in the other. lol
No thanks. I would rather use a search engine that at least claims they do not track my searches. I use DuckDuckGo.
Something to think about...thanks.
