Full Title: How Ronald Reagan saw the world: Hilarious 1987 map showing the 40th President's view of the globe - with 'pacifist wimps' in Europe, Canada as a U.S. 'subsidiary' and Russia as an 'evil empire' - goes on sale
A 1980s map which pokes fun at Ronald Reagan's view of the world will go on sale at a cartography fair in London this summer.
The Reagan map shows an oversized United States dominating the globe, with the 40th U.S. President himself bestriding the continent and a prominent place given to his UK counterpart Margaret Thatcher.
...There are numerous other references to Reagan's presidency including his opposition to a Palestinian state - which is seen occupying a remote Pacific island ...

Wow cool, Thanks for posting!

It’s by David Horsey, cartoonist of the Seattle Times. Back in the 1980s, people on both sides could look at something like that and laugh.

Ho-hum. It’s unfunny. They tried to tag RR as a dunce when he was in fact a very bright guy. And it’s a crappy map. That is to say, it’s not even good as a satirical map. The “Homos” thing, for example, is likely supposed to be targeting San Francisco but on the map the circle doesn’t even include S.F. it appears to be around Petaluma, CA, which in the ‘80s at least probably wasn’t any more gay than pretty much anywhere else in America.

If anybody pays more than $21 for that piece of leftist condescending generality, they’re nuts. On the other hand, I might pay $210 for it as a prop to place in a gallery illustrating liberalism’s overblown paranoia and relentless pursuit of stereotype.

Ha ha—that’s more detailed the usual NYers’ map of the US.

Maybe the author of this parody-map misheard it as "Fag Capital of the World."

$2100 for a 1980s novelty item?
Sheaaaaright.
Even a mint promotional poster for ANY movie from the 1980s wouldn’t be worth two-grand.
$10 would be overly generous.

THIS set the standard for novelty maps in the real 1980s. Launched hundreds of parody posters.
