WORTHINGTON, Pa. - A gas station in Armstrong County wont be receiving gas from Sunoco after its owner displayed controversial messages on a billboard down the road, according to our partners at TribLIVE.
Sunoco has stopped fuel deliveries to the Worthington station after its owner, John Placek, displayed the messages, including a racial slur on the billboard following the Michael Rosfeld trial.
Sunoco has also removed all signage and trademarks from the station, according to TribLIVE.
Channel 11 has been following controversy over the digital billboards. Last month, Placek posted offensive messages during black history month.

Like “White”, straight males are the enemy of the US?
So what were the messages?
They were offensive and thats all you need to know
It has been reported that this guy’s billboard sign had the n-word on it. (It was on one of the rotating messages.)
It’s a free country. So I suppose he has a right to do that. But if that report is true, and if I were a Sunoco executive, I’d cancel the company’s association with him. Based on the fact that he’s too stupid to run a Sunoco franchise.
I agree. He has the right to say what he wants, but if Sunoco does not want their brand associated with that, it’s their call.
What did the billboard say? The news article does not say what the message is that he wrote on the billboard.
Yep. Freedom of association. Sunoco has the right to dissociate itself from this guy for this reason or any other reason, or for no reason at all.
There is “controversial”, then there is “insensitive” and lastly there is “stupidity”.
Looks like he crossed the first 2 to touch the “third rail” as far as Sunoco is concerned.
“Whites have rights”
“Black racists in Congress” with pictures of Maxine Waters and others.
“Jessie Smollett hangs himself. Sets race relations back years.”
The guy who complained has a goatee, hair shaved close to the sides of his head and longer hair on top. Looks like an urban liberal.
First time I saw it was just complete and utter shock,” said Michael Allshouse. He told Channel 11 he almost stopped dead in his tracks when he came across the billboard on Route 422 next to Worthington. I dont see it as thought-provoking. I dont see it as instigating thoughtful discussion as much as it is provoking and agitating,” he said.”
“Whites have rights”. Apparently not.
Context is everything - was he quoting rap lyrics?
does he have a contract with Sunoco? does the contract mention what he can and cannot put oh his sign?
and they wonder why we cannot seem to have that race conversation the seek
I think this gas station will see a surge in sales.
“It’s OK to be White.”
White Like Me. A movie dying to be made.
“Whites have rights” What else? If it was nothing more than that, he could take them to court.
Here is some information on the billboards:
I’m straight, I’m white and I vote = hate speech.
