A county in New York has declared a state of emergency after more than 100 people have been diagnosed with measles.
Rockland County officials announced that starting at 12 a.m. on Wednesday, anyone under 18 who has not yet been vaccinated will be barred from public places until they receive the MMR vaccine or until the emergency declaration expires in 30 days. It's unclear how the ban on public places will be enforced.

Ironically Roe v. Wade can be used in court as a defense by anti-vaxxers. Do we have the right to control our own bodies or don’t we?
The reaction about vax and anti vax is one of those things that amazes me.
Vaccines are not 100% effective. It is stated in the literature from the manufacturer. I posted that in a FB group when talking about a family I personally know who had two of their kids catch the measles while being vaccinated. The two kids had a very mild case of it (thankfully!) and no lasting problems. Yet suddenly I was inhuman and worthy to be shot. I got booted from the group (an authors fan group) by an admin who said I was spreading lies even though I posted the documentation from the vaccine maker.
Same thing when I talked about vaccines with a homeschool couple we know. I mentioned that we spread out the hepatitis vaccine for my kids because I had a reaction to it as an adult. Our doc was very good about it, and we did the shots separately at the hospital just in case.
The couple screamed at us and said that is why I am autistic and we just “Killed the children!” We no longer talk to them out side of hellos at church.
There is no room for any deviation from the two norms. As I said, my kids have all their shots, but we spread a few of them out because of potential reactions. And if the vaccine is effective, random unvaxed people are not as big of a threat as many perceive it to be.
And while I am an engineer, I was that way well before the hepatitis shot!
I didn’t know. I hung out in Nyack never saw them in the late 80’s.
