In CHICAGO? You have GOT to be kidding! I grew up there. I've bought two cops, an alderman and a traffic court judge. How can you trust someone who can't be bought? They can't be relied on to turn a blind eye to a little mordita.

It wasn’t the police that let him go, it was the prosecutor, Kim Foxx (who had tried to get the police to let him go earlier). Supposedly she got him into a special program for young black first-time felons that drops the charges, seals and then expunges their record. It came out of the Obama years and was supposed to keep young black men from ending up in jail. (Of course, not committing the felony in the first place never seems to have occurred to them.)
