The police department should sue in civil court and get restitution for all their expenses.
Even though OJ Simpson was found not guilty, action in civil court was still allowed.

Great question, GE! I had not at all thought about that possible dynamic wrt Smollet case. Very hard for me to follow, so after a while I gave up and just got reports from Darlin, who IS following it! LOL!
